Dan Mullen has built Florida into an offensive power, but not yet a complete program

He is an OC who dabbles in defense. Im losing faith that he can transform to be a HC. There are some positive signs, like the idea that Johnson probably had more control over the offense this year. But if Grantham is still on this staff in a couple months then I think Mullen is a dead man walking. Well, UAA may never fire him. Sigh.

Agree on letting Johnson control the offense, for the most part. I think it was like Kellen Moore and Jason Garrett last year for the Cowboys. Kellen Moore had control, but when the stakes got high, Garrett would take over the playcalling and the tone on offense. You saw that at times against LSU and Bama. They were two different offenses at times.

Defenses were the same all year. Mullen deserves credit for his offensive coaching, both game day and preparation. He put a quality O on the field this year with minimal issues.

The defense was garbage all year long. Nothing changed. Mullen gets credit for that. He obviously isn't inserting himself at any time with the defense.

He is comfy coaching from the offensive offices and rooms.

Does all this mean that we are in "shambles?"

Mullen not good enough, doesn't have the nuts to fire the choker, and all of our top offensive weapons are running away to prepare for the draft.

Perhaps we suck again!

Special teams has also been left for dead. And mullen allows the team to take week's and that week's associated game off. I dont know if the rumors about bama prep starting a few weeks prior is true or not, but no matter how you slice it, the team that showed up to play lsu - on senior night, at home in the swamp, to close the regular season, in a win and you're probably in the playoffs type environment - in no way shape or form was prepared to play anyone. That is 100% on mullen and in my opinion the most egregious mistake he's made so far, not just at Florida, but over his entire HC tenure.

I dont think we are in shambles. We are in the Richt zone. We are probably always going to be a 'good' to 'damn good' team with Mullen as our HC. We will always be competitive in the East with honorable mentions at the SEC CG. He may even luck into a SEC Championship with the help of some SECW teams effing up.

But we will never be a great team unless Mullen learns how to be a HC.

We didnt run it all year. In the middle of the season, too lazy to go look at which games, we had a lot of play action that was very effective with the run game.
You are thinking of the RPOs . And I do like those plays. You will not we put a helmet on every helmet on these then "option" the outside LB or safety in run pass conflict. The coice is give or throw (depending onnwhat that OLB safety does).

Or the fake option screen pass, which I do not like (in the way that we use it). there are quite a few variations of this play or more accurately we run the same play out of a lot of different formations but in general it begins looking like the normal option where we let the backside defensive end run free. It is t a draw. The delay is looking at the DE (to sell the option). I'm not really clear if this pass option is called before the player not. if you've seen the little clip of Urban Meyer talking about the first time it happened at Utah it was actually a blown play, and Alex Smith improvised. I haven't paid attention to the playbook enough to know what we can, ie what the play calls used to be using the old Utah or old Urban Meyer era playbooks available on the web.
