Serious, non-trolling question: If the Jets thing is for real, who should we replace him with? Who's that guy to get us to the next level? Do we grab Hugh Freeze? Try for Venables (though I'd rather have an offensive guy)? Do we see what Brian Johnson can do? I doubt Meyer is coming back.

We'd have the best opening of the off season, so probably pick of the litter, but I'm not sure who the best option is this cycle.

I understand the thought of offensive guy vs. defensive guy, etc. I want a HC. We have an offensive guy and he sux at HC responsibilities. There will never be another Nick Saban but he is/was a defensive guy but he is a HEAD COACH. Same with Meyer. They are Head Coaches. I like the guy at ISU. I do not care about records etc. I watch games. Look at the NFL and who they mention from college. Fitzgerald, Campbell, Ruhle, Fleck etc. The one thing that all this guys have in common when they are mentioned is "Attention to Detail". The words "Cousin Eddie" and "Attention to Detail" are never used in the same sentence.

So, Dan would fire two coaches and then leave? I don’t know what’s worse, the rumor or people spreading it.
Who knows whether the rumors are true or not but Mullen firing Gray and English “right now” might be a huge favor for them...so they can find a landing spot before all positions are filled elsewhere?!

No hesitation. If Mullen goes, your first call is to Joe Brady. You don’t want another middle-aged journeyman. You want a young guy with bright ideas who can bring a buzz. We know what Brady can do in the SEC with the right tools.

I’m confident he would at least listen.

Do we really need an interim for an off season opening? I mean, we'll have one on paper, but we won't for any actual games.

tbh, I have no idea. Both Ohio State and Oklahoma went with their up and coming assistant coaches. Is Bryan Johnson in that category? I have no idea.

And, BTW, that scenario I drew up earlier? Plausible. The Jets want a quarterback. They own the second pick. Dak has the leverage. It could happen. The Cowboys could offer him in a trade and use the second pick on a passer.

He seems like an NFL guy who just used LSU to advance his pro career to me, but that's a good call, definitely worth a shot.

I heard they're taking Trump. But he refuses to accept until January 20th. Something about a possible extended contractual commitment.

Anyone think Kiffin would be a good coach? Honestly...

Both have similar W/L records as Mullen. You’re going from one guy who can win 10 games to another, but with more baggage. I guess if it’s a result of him living on his own, maybe. But trading is anything but proven to be a better overall deal.

I honestly think Freeze would have us competing with the big boys in recruiting and on the field

Freeze would be an interesting pick. I don’t need to point out his background. I don’t think he’d pass muster for the simple reason sofla noted. He comes with baggage. I don’t think the UAA has the stomach for it. I could be wrong. I bet I’m not.

No to Freeze, he automatically brings the NCAA with him wherever he lands when he leaves Falwellville.

Who to hire? You need someone with HC experience for sure. You at least call:

Whittingham - Utah
Franklin - Penn State
Gundy - Okie State
Fleck - Minnesota
Feckel - Cincy

They all would say no, then you find a plan B. Oh, be sure to call Jon Gruden too, just to make the UcheaT fans implode.

Maybe its all true. Maybe Danny realizes our soft woke admin doesn't care about football success. Maybe he wants out.
