If Urban truly is interested in the Jax job than it’s definitely not about the money. He could easily make more at Texas than the Jags would pay him. I think the guy enjoys the attention, but if Kahn is offering total control over personnel and the fact Kahn has not been quick to fire a coach or GM, may be enough to sway Urban.

There's less pressure in the NFL, that's a fact. I think he knows that big time college football coaching will kill him but the NFL is a different animal.

That would depend on how you define pressure. The pressure that did in Meyer a decade ago was internal. The pressure that pushed him away two seasons ago was external. This is an awfully driven man, which is one of the reasons why ‘81 is right when he says Meyer will want control of personnel. Meyer losing ballgames because of another person’s decisions on personnel would eat him up.

I think some of this is overblown. In college, you lose one game and it can torpedo your season. In the NFL, losing 6 games is still considered a great year. I think Meyer can adjust his mindset for the pro game, in that not every loss is justification for suicide.

Noway Jags hire Urbs.

Jags are going to put Tony Boselli in a VP role first and then they will search for a GM. Now that Trevor is almost locked up they will have coaches lining up to come to Jax to tag along. Hell they could probably lure Belichick away from New England if they wanted. It's a dumpster fire up there now. Whoever the Jags get as HC it will be whoever they want.

Jacksonville as an NFL destination. Lawrence or not, I’ll believe it when I see it.

@AdamSchefter: B1G coaching update... Northwestern HC Pat Fitzgerald is open to taking NFL HC interviews; Ohio State HC Ryan Day is not, per sources.

You’re a clown. First off, are you saying all these reports are fabricated? Secondly, is it really crazy to think the Jets may actually WANT one of the greatest college coaches of all time?

Belichick wanting to go to Jacksonville because of Trevor Lawrence may be the dumbest sports take ever uttered, and keep in mind I’ve had to hear all my own takes for three decades.

Rather amusing that Fitzgerald thinks the NFL would have interest in him. While we’re at it, I’m also personally open to taking NFL HC interviews.

OSU was never really considered a threat to his leaving UF.

Oh boy, the fur is goin' to be a flyin' now. Don't you realize that Urban Meyer staged one of the most elaborate hoaxes in history in order to get that OSU job?

Careful and detailed planning was required as well as masterful puppeting of his family, a large crew of doctors and medical staff at Shands, and even the memorabilia hawk that ended up bringing about the demise of Jim Tressel. But, by golly, when Urban sets his mind to it, he GETS IT DONE!

Perhaps a bit unnecessary, though, as all he had to do was tender his resignation and move on, but, then how could we have propagated our most endeared conspiracy theories if he'd done only that?

Are you saying the Jags are hiring their head coach before they even hire a GM? Or do you think they're going to give Urbs both?

Rappaport is just trolling and you're getting hooked. In one breath Rappaport literally says "Urban to Jags" , but if not, "Day to the Jags", "that's if Marrone is fired, which I'm not sure he will be", but my sources say he's assembling some guys. :stirpot:

Rapoport isn’t some fly-by-night Twitter phenomenon. The guy is a legit source.

The spread option Meyer likes isn't going to fly in the NFL and he knows it, and taking a pocket passer like Lawrence will only confirm that. So what kind of offense would Meyer want in the NFL?

Great question...a Lawrence or Deshaun Watson type?

Urban’s primary genius is his ability to structure and enact a winning organization. He won a NC Tebow and one with Cardale Jones at QB picking apart top defenses in his first 3 starts.

Doing so with NFL rosters is a whole different challenge. But if the Jags want to become a winning organization like the Steelers etc. they need to fundamentally change their culture. I’d be very interested in Meyer as coach and GM - keeping the latter when he’s ready to move off the sidelines.

He's also the coach that left Gainesville saying the program was broken.

Urban was an expert at convincing high school kids to come play for him. Once they became bigger than the program he lost control. "The Circle" took over. The NFL is full of guys bigger than the program. Urban can't handle the personalities in the NFL.

Hoping Ryan Day takes an NFL job after the playoffs. That way OSU hires Fickell and I don't have to hear his name again

Khan also stated that he would retain the GM and Marrone thru this season. Many coaches and GM's weren't canned till after the regular season. No way Marrone is retained.

I didn't spread anything, tard. We are linking to the national sports media. The thread title is a cut and paste of the article title. You think I'm out there spreading lies with a Chatter Twitter feed? Puh-leeze.

Now go back into hiding.

Also, never for one moment have I ever thought Gatorchatter would be "legitimate". We're an effing message board.

You could be right. He'll have his opportunity as Jags coach to find out.

It's obvious you still have some serious jilted-lover nonsense still going on.
