That story was published a day ago, so it comes off stale now. Reading the Mullen quote to end it reinforces the idea that he’s reached the point of looking beyond Florida and that Stricklin had better be ready with Plan B.
If stricklin didn't already have a list of plan b s already he should be fired.

Every other top 10 program would have already been doing interviews and likely have someone in the works or already signing paperwork. Mullen doesn't even have a plan.

He really is the epitome of JV. But all this just hastens his eventually demise so I'm fine with it.

This is all very upsetting. Big picture, how can Mullen not see he has a poor staff? They can't recruit, can't coach, and he just doesn't want to make serious changes. Firing some folks is a nice start, but that's it. If he's just going to bring in more amateurs, why bother? I personally don't think he's trying, probably putting his hours begging for an NFL job.

I really don't know what to make of this.
Does Mullen really want to go to the NFL or is he trying to get an extension/more money?
Does the AD care? This would be a perfect opportunity to say fire Grantham and we'll give you an extension. Are they that cheap that they won't buy out Grantham's relatively meager contract?
Mullen either willingly or ignorantly doesn't seem to care how this affects optics/recruiting etc.

In any case we are in for a few more years of suckitude. Hand wringing over recruiting at this point is meaningless to the point of being laughable. Mullen will be gone nest season at best or the following at worst. Recruiting will languish in the sup par. Then a new coach will come in and if by luck he's a miracle worker on the recruiting trail and starts pulling in top 3 classes from day one it will still take 2-3 years to get to the level of our competition.

See ya in 2026.

Best case scenario is the Volbillies fire Bullethead and “steal” Cousin Eddie from us.

Talk about a win win.

Fire a coach for recruiting violations then hire a coach with a show-cause from recruiting violations?

EDIT: Mullen has the ncaa stank on him for a year. Dont think any college will be stealing him from us this year

You caught the part about it being the "vols", right? When's the last time they did anything that made sense?

Welp. The only thing that could make this worse is if Mullen gets an extension. The only thing that could make that worse is if Grantham gets an extension.

If the admins have decided to keep Mullen, and it certainly looks like they have, I'd be surprised if they didn't extend him.
