Urban has all those draft picks and a 100 mil in free agent money sitting there and he knows how to evaluate talent. I'm betting on Urb. to bring in talent and make a winner out of the Jags.
The key will be how quick his new QB develops. Teams go up in flames every year because of QB play.
I see the Jags competing for for a division title in year three if the QB play is there.

Some of you guys think with your hearts and not your heads. The math really isn't that hard.

Ask yourself this, how many National championships would Florida have if Meyer never left, at least 4 more likely 5 or 6. Now how many would Florida have if SOS never left? I'm betting 1. There's a reason one of our former coaches has been sucked off and sought after by every big time program and multiple NFL teams after leaving. It's not the one who was back coaching in the SEC east against us every year 4 or so years after leaving Florida.
I enjoyed the fun n gun more than the qb power. But I'm not sure that style of play should be much of a factor. I think longevity should factor in and spurrier was able to sustain success for longer and he pretty much put uf football on the map.
I'm actually not much of a meyer hater. But if we're gonna play the "would have" game, I'll play. Would meyer have been as successful if fsu Tennessee and Miami were yearly contenders like they were in spurriers? I also think you're downplaying spurriers success at south Carolina. He took them to heights they'd never reached before. Who's to say he wouldn't have had more championships here?

First of all, you lose all credibility when you can’t even capitalize words like: Spurrier, UF, Meyer, Meyer, FSU, Spurrier’s, Spurrier’s and South Carolina.

Afterwards, UT & Miami weren’t yearly contenders. They were lightning in a bottle. Meyer would have made Bobby tuck his tail, something Spurrier couldn’t do.

Remember, Meyer rode the most effective QB in all CFB. Tebow gone, Meyer gone. Spurrier did it with multiple QBs, many unheralded. Both Meyer & Spurrier were great technical coaches. Spurrier was a lifetime Gator, Meyer was not.

We know that Meyer will not be outworked. He will need to unlearn his college game plans and learn the NFL. He also must surround himself with great people who embrace his work ethic, and search for perfection. I had a boss like Urban and it was the hardest I ever worked, and the most fun I ever had.
Urban brings some spice and excitement to the NFL which in my view has grown stale and boring.
Maybe he will get comfortable enough to throw the fans a few Gator Chomps along the way. I will pull for him, and the Jags except when they play the Steelers.

It was Charlie Pell who put UF on the Map...SOS brought us to the Promised Land.

IMHO, Urban left because he didn't think he could beat Saban and Alabama, so why would anyone think he would have won 3/4 more Championships when he would have had to get by Bama every year? What-if's just don't work when you look at the record Saban has had since Urban left. Saban's body of work against what Urban might have done...... You really believe this nonsense? He went to OSU and kicked Saban's ass. He has no fear of Saban. Zero. I doubt he ever even thought of Nick Saban. He outrecruited him damn near every year, including his final effing class at UF. In terms of pure coaching, he's a better coach than Saban.

This is another stupid myth, like how he faked all his medical stuff.

@RapSheet: Two intriguing options have emerged for the staff of #Jaguars coach Urban Meyer: OC candidate Scott Linehan interviews early this week and is the favorite, while #Ravens DL coach Joe Cullen is a top target as defensive coordinator. Cullen has impressed in Baltimore since 2016.

@PeteThamel: Sources: Chris Ash expected to be part of Urban Meyer’s staff in Jacksonville as a position coach. Ash was Meyer’s DC during the 2014 season when Ohio State won the national title.

Probably DBs for them.

If UM is a better Coach, can you document it? Like, how many National Championships do each have? How many League Championships? How many weeks in the Top 10? How many weeks ranked #1? Total wins?

Wouldn't the answers be the final arbitrator of who is best? If not, it's just opinions.....

This is the dumbest post in the history of message boards. Not just sports message boards, but every genre since the internet started. I cringed so hard at the end of reading it that I peed a little. Holy smokes.
