Florida won 75-49. Probably White's best job getting the team to go full out for almost the entire game. The lead went from 20-11 looked sketchy because we played slower, but then we turned it on again. Props to White for getting it out of the players finally and props to the players for stepping up while massively short handed against a top 6 team

I’m betting you are running around naked rooting for Mike White.

Nope. But I did enjoy watching the team playing aggressively and getting the win.

I’m a far bigger supporter of the team than I am a hater of Mike White.

I'm glad I didn't test out the zip my nuts up theory and watch the game after I managed to unzip them. I hear it takes a friend with a blindfold and a quaalude to get them out.

Good. You can live in mediocrity. Hope you enjoy it. I prefer to expect high level performance and coaches to earn their millions. Enjoy.

I don’t like mediocrity, bad coaching, or bad play. But I do like it when a team pulls together, against all odds, and for even one game plays over their heads and win with sheer determination.

I’ll be pissed with the next losing game when the team doesn’t play hard and give it their best, and White doesn’t get them motivated and keep them playing fast.

But in the meantime you won’t catch me hoping the team fails. It’s just not part of my definition of being a Gator fan. I don’t hold it against people who feel differently, but I do hold it against them when they tell me I need to feel differently, or else I’m a fan who wants mediocrity. That’s just bull$hit.

Who more is gonna be out next game vs UGa? Mann will probably miss several games from concussion protocol?

White had to lean more on Payne. And Omar came through against that #6 monster team. I suggest that's how you develop Payne - overdue.
Even Jitoboh played useful minutes. In fact, Jitoboh was used early. I think his size, a couple of UT's big crashers bumped into Jit and it scared them into the jitters. ... and that's why we won.

Now add Castleton & Lewis, keep the hustle-harass, and start fine-tuning this team.

Great game by the Gators! Played tough D the entire way. Thoroughly enjoyed the game.

As to Payne...I’ve been saying since he stepped on campus his issues are consistency and defense. Glad to see others recognizing the defensive lapses. He is an elite shot blocker and can be a decent rebounder but his defense and rotations are otherwise a concern. I have heard rumors that his practice effort is lacking at times but don’t know if true. He definitely has skills and it is time for him to step up. The Chris Walker analogy is dead on as they were both AAU stars but otherwise raw and underdeveloped.

Jitoboh lost weight last year and I thought he would get minutes this year....until I saw him. He definitely put the weight back on. He could contribute but he has to get serious about it.

Tonight I loved the defensive pressure and pace.

Seems to me that some previous games have seen the Gator offense run through Castleton. Is it a worry that the whole team played so well together when Castleton was out?

I have told you, you need to feel differently. I have said that you are happy to portray yourself to be a better fan than others. White SUCKS! He needs to be canned. These random wins, and fans slopping it up, just prolongs the inevitable. Fuchs, I feel like I’m in the Chumps and Butters Era.

I don’t think I’m a better fan than anyone. I just don’t like folks telling me how I need to behave as a fan.

About a year ago, circumstances showed me that life is too short to do anything other than to make the best of what is right in front of me.

How I feel about the coach, the team, or the administration isn’t going to move the program change needle one iota.

Wow so Gators TRASH a top 10 Tenn team by 26 points. Duke loses AGAIN and is now 5-4 and out of the tourney. Maryland loses again and is now 8-7. Bama DESTROYS LSU 105-75! 30 points on the road! Bama looking like a Final 4 team early. UNC sits at 8-5. Butler at 5-7 right now, wow they are always good. UK at 4-8 and AU at 8-6. A lot of basketball powerhouses not doing too good so far. Crazy season already that sets up perfectly for Gonzaga to go undefeated and win the whole thing. They have an easy schedule in a crap conference and no team will come within 10 points of them.

I just watched the highlights, we were out to dinner so I didn't get to see the game live. Total domination and destruction by the Gators tonight. We Owned and Destroyed Tenn just like in football. We really came to play tonight and we had relentless effort on both ends of the court. Loved hearing Dickie V crying about us destroying a top 10 team. The refs were really trying to get Tenn back into the game with 25 FT attempts but they only made 12 of them. We only attempted 11 which is total bs with all the plays we were going inside against them. We outscored Tenn 42-22 in the paint and outrebounded Tenn 44-36. Wow so we are missing our top 3 players and we respond like this against a top 10 team?! Clearly MW outcoached and simply outclassed Rick Barnes on this night. I could see MW coaching more and moving around and yelling more and coaching and teaching up his players so that was good to see. To hold a top 10 team that is favored by 8 points to ONLY 49 points is simply something special and big credit goes to our players for really stepping up and playing hard and very tough against a top team. MW still has to go but dang he really kicked the haters in the balls tonight including myself. Very improbable win but one that we can savor for a few days. Go Gators!!

So this is the high-level this team can reach? Will we play this well once our better players come back?
We are best (as is any & all teams) with fierce inside players. Outrebound, block basket access, such basics we've not seen since Billy Donovan. Where have they been? Can we bring them into our next game? Does White figure in any of this. If he does then it will disappear right away. Should we reconsider how the rest of our season might go?

Remember Bama is the other team that beat these UT guys ... by a measly 9 points. :D

Florida outscored Tennessee 42-22 in the paint.
The Gators' bench outscored the Vols’ 22-9.
Florida also scored 13 second chance points to Tennessee’s five.
The Vols shot just 29% from the field, were out-rebounded 44-36, allowed 14 offensive rebounds and turned it over 18 times. Defensively, it allowed Florida to shoot 49% from the field.
The Vols scored zero transition points against the Gators.
Vescovi, Keon Johnson, Josiah James, and Victor Bailey combined to shoot 8-38 from the field accounting for 25 total points.
The Gators forced 18 turnovers and converted them into 27 points. Florida also blocked seven shots.
The Gators recorded 15 assists on their 31 made field goals.
Tennessee’s 49 points were a season low.
Gators’ fourth win over a top-10 team by a margin of 17 or more points under Mike White.
UF finished the game emphatically with a 20-5 run to match the largest win against a top-10 team during the AP poll era (1948-49) UF also beat Ohio State by 26 points on Dec. 23, 2006.

THIS cannot be real. I was too big a coward to watch after seeing our big kid in street clothes. But I have it taped. The bizarre irony is when we had great teams UT still had our number so often. Now when it is almost David vs Goliath we beat them. The Lord moves in mysterious ways. Much like the bounce of a football.
