What is your go-to drink through-out the day?

What is your favorite adult beverage?

Water. However, usually about one time each work day I will get a cup of hot apple cider. I found out a few months ago that hot apple cider can help ease the pain from a tooth ache.

Water

Beer: IPA
Wine: Cabernet Sauvignon
Liquor: bourbon
Cocktail: old fashioned

That's about as close to my list as it gets. Personal favorites are definitely wine and IPA's. Prefer scotch over bourbon, though both are great, particularly in cooler months. Summer I will drink more gin or tequila cocktails. Wine(specifically Cab and Tuscan) and beer are never out of season.

That's funny because I had written scotch and then replaced it with bourbon. I do think the best scotches are better than the best bourbons, but ultimately I think that I drink more bourbon than scotch.

Water.

Wine.
Ditto, but I have to have coffee in the AM.

I too enjoy IPAs as well as German or Czech style Pilseners and the occasional German Weisbier.

Once every month or so a Coke or, especially in the summer, a Root Beer (Sprecher's Root Beer is as good as it gets.)

Cold weather, either whiskey or scotch; but only at the end of the day for some reason.

My FIL is about to turn 96, but in his younger days (really not that much younger) he made the most incredible martinis which I would partake in when visiting them in Florida. They were a bit too smooth, though. He'd make them in a pitcher and top off your glass whether you were empty or not; it wasn't until you stood up (or tried to) that you realized just how deadly they were. I suspect it's been at least five years since I had one.

My liquor of choice is bourbon. Acquired the taste for it drinking Beam at games as a student. There was always Jim Beam and Captain Morgan at every tailgate so that's what everybody drank.

I like Makers Mark, Woodford, really like Angel's Envy, all of those are great for sipping on the rocks. Beam needs a splash of Coke.

My cocktail of choice is an Old Fashioned made with rye. Recently got a bottle of Basil Hayden rye and I'm dying to get into it.

I make a good Old Fashioned. I get an orange, peel off strips of the zest with a vegetable peeler, then wrap the strips in plastic wrap and freeze them for later use. Whenever I make an Old Fashioned, I get a couple of the strips out of the freezer. The flavor from the zest really makes the drink.

I asked for some luxardo cherries for Christmas but that fat fcuk Santa failed me again. Apparently, I was naughty last year.

Old Fashioneds have gotten so trendy, I think the prices on the cherries spiked because lots of folks got them for Christmas. Price went from under $20 for a jar to $40 for a jar. Amazon has an offer of 4 jars for $65 but I don't need 4 jars and I don't have 3 classy friends with impeccable taste and with birthdays coming up. Oh, to have @bradgator2 money and not have to worry about the cost of fancy Italian cherries

My beer choices vary with the season. Go to is always an IPA. But I like a bunch of porters in the winter. White Belgians in the fall. Sours in the summer.

Wine is almost always a cab or Bordeaux. I like my reds to be old world. Like I am chewing on a cigar, or an old leather horse saddle that has been sitting untouched in a barn for several decades.

I have tried my whole life to like scotch. I can drink them and appreciate them. But I wouldnt say I enjoy them. But I have fallen in love with bourbons. Woodford Reserve and Angel's Envy are my current favorites.

I have always loved rums. It's a very undervalued market. Papa's Pilar, Zacapa... blows the doors off of any scotch.

And unlike @AlexDaGator, I dont put pussy ass cherries in my bourbon. Just an ice cube or two.

I'd say the reason is mostly because you're not Carrie Fisher.

And I agree on the beer part. Not many beer types that I don't enjoy in their proper context. I just prefer the hoppier ales.

As for your martinis story, made right, they're great. When I was a broker in WP, we used to go to Morton's on Wednesdays for happy hour. They had $3 Skyy martinis, and used to have complimentary filet sliders they'd pass around. We'd knock back 3-4 drinks, a half dozen filet sandwiches, and then often head back to the office for some WC client calls. The problem I've found is that I've never seen them made as well as there. If you go to Trip Advisor/Yelp, there are still sometimes comments about the bartender, Terry, who made them. Incredible.

I'm in agreement with much of what you said. But this...

I recommend you try a bottle of this:

Macallan Fine Oak 15 Yr Triple Csk

It's finished in bourbon barrels which adds a hint of sweetness.

Awesome, definitely will. I just finished a bottle of Macallan 12. Not certain of the the finish.

Oddly enough, and I am probably in the minority on this, but I prefer an Islay scotch. Like a Laphroaig. Something about the ultra peaty and smoky flavor invokes an inner spirit.

I think the guy in this photo is holding a glass of Laphoaig.

Oh. And for the whisky and bourbon lovers in here..... buy these glasses. It does zero for changing the flavor. But there are no words to describe how they'll change the appearance and smell of your spirit. Prepare to be blown away.

Norlan

Dont biitch about the price @AlexDaGator

Do you have ANY IDEA how many of these I can buy for $50???

And you don't have to wash them afterwards. Straight into the ocean. God's garbage disposal.

Honestly, if there's still a residue, and it's good enough Scotch or Bourbon, I bet the turtles are actually somewhat appreciative.
