4 wins isn’t needed to fire Mullen. However, Mullen isn’t going anywhere. Unless he wants to. For several years.

If crappy Mike White is still here, Mullen is going nowhere.
Mike whites not a total dick. That probably earns him some grace.

The difference is Mike White, for all the shortcomings on the court, doesn’t make waves off it. Between the show-cause, the fill the Swamp plea, storming the field during the Mizzou game, three losses to close out the year (two of them bad looks) and, if you choose to believe it, the decision to peruse openings in the NFL, Mullen put himself on shaky ground.

I wouldn’t make the mistake of overestimating the cordial relationship between Stricklin and Mullen. Stricklin’s a straight-up guy. I think he’ll do what’s best for the program. I think 2021 is very much a referendum year for Mullen.

True to form, we’ll go 8-4 for a (yawn) second straight year but this time the screaming and moaning will be over the awfense rather than the defense. We can never put it all together.

Will it be enough to get Mullen booted? It ought to be. For that reason it probably won’t. We do weird well.

I'm sure there will be plenty of screaming and moaning with the defense too. Grantham loves playing the secondary 10 or more yards off the ball that allow easy short passes, delayed blitzes that take too long, and of course corner blitzes that never work and give up big yards and/or TDs.

Thanks for the reply. Unfortunately, thanks to my job I'll have to wait until no more than two weeks prior to purchase a ticket. Sometimes they have me travel which would ruin my plans...

Nalt, you might consider going ahead & purchasing your ticket(s) early off Stubhub or another outlet just to be sure you have them. If you end up having to miss the game you can always resell them online just as easily.

I see some dark Saturday predictions so are we talking 7-5 or more like 4-8? Feel free to go out on the limb. I say 8-4 which obviously doesn't cut it but also won't get Mullen fired. Do we hope for the 4-8 so it gives the administration no choice but to fire him though? Do you want to see us crash and burn like Tenn and FSU?
Mullen is a better coach than the 4-8 guys. I think of Mullen as a “high floor, low ceiling” coach. Between his time at MSU and 3 years here, last year’s team was his most talented. He managed to go 8-4 with that talent. With 2 inexcusable losses. Everyone harps on the LSU game, but aTm was just as bad. Why is the second string back getting carries over the starter in crunch time? Mullen thinks it’sa good strategy to let everyone play to build depth. While I get it on the surface, that’s the dumbest thing I ever heard. Is he trying to convince us that all the players are equally talented? Even teams like Alabama that have the depth to maybe pull it off don’t try it. Pick some damn starters and go with them. Practice is where you cross train. Not actual games.

As for a prediction, I think we’ll be in the 7-5/8-4 range. We get cupcakes and FSU back on the schedule so that should make the record look respectable.

If Mullen was putting forth his best effort, then he'd get 9 wins with this schedule probably. Though it's looking like that will hardly be the case with this recent pissing match he's obviously in with the administration. Dan seems to want out, but he doesn't have a better job to go to. With offense likely taking 2 steps back next year and who knows with the defense, maybe they improve a little. I'm seeing 4-5 losses like most are.

How easy or difficult will it be to get a ticket to the Bama/UF game when I get in Gainesville? Anybody have an idea about this?
If Dopey Dan gets his way, 92,000 fans will "pack the swamp". Should be some way to squeeze you in.

I think 8-4 is most likely, but "Nads and the Dwag" will tell us it's really 9-2 because the last game doesn't count, and covering the spread against Bama counts as a win.

So the 4 loses are Alabama, Georgia, LSU, Kentucky or Missouri or FSU or USF. I don't see it...unless he quits after Alabama.

If we lose to Bama by 3 touchdowns or more can we use that to fire Mullen for cause since him and grantham love playing the "we are only a touchdown away from where we want to be as a program."

Can we say "we are still 3 touchdowns away from where we want to be as a program"

ok. But how many passes did he throw? Like 10 passes? Virtually all of his plays were running plays.

That's another thing about the 2020 season - we wasted opportunities to blow teams out and get Emory real playing time to throw the ball. Instead, we're in close games in the 4th quarter vs. LSU, South Carolina, Vandy, Kentucky, and Tennessee. If we blow out any two of these teams, Emory gets a full 1/2 of the 3rd quarter on to develop and actually run the offense. We saw what he looked like vs. Oklahoma (but I'll give him a pass on that game since Mullen decided not to prepare him properly).

The fact that he was this effective as a rusher despite opposing coaches knowing he was in as a runner makes it more impressive, not less I would say.

I don't think many doubt his ability to run the option. The problem is he doesn't have the size to be a battering ram 20 times a game against SEC defenses. He's got a live arm but definitely lacks experience throwing and it's not at all clear if he has the ability to read defenses and find the open receiver (when in doubt throw it to the new 5 star TE is probably going to be a good idea most passing downs). I hope I'm wrong but I expect EJ will be pretty effective playing Mullinz ball up until he get injured in the first 3rd of the season or so. Then AR will take the job and probably keep it.

If we're going strictly off the bowl game I think Richardson may be starting by mid season next year. Way more upside.

Not blowing cup cakes out drives me insane, why not get a big lead before you decide to get cute with play calling. Butter's did the same thing but I think it was mostly because his teams were just that bad. Florida was good enough on offense this year to beat the teams you listed by 40, it's almost like Mullen just decides some days to call a shyt game.

Probably my favorite thing about Spurrier, he didn't just win the games he was supposed to, he blew mother fuchers out.

He'll get killed in Game 3 - vs. Bama - playing Mullen-ball. They better find a way to protect him because Alabama's defense is going to eat his ass up!
