Hall of Shame.

Does this moron have the pulse of young athletes or what?

We re always looking to upgrade our facilities... like we did in 1981.

He made two fatal mistakes. He assumed the program’s reputation would be sufficient alone to draw top talent. He assumed after Meyer left that he could find the right people to maintain the status.

He grossly miscalculated on both counts.

Look..... I admit I never thought we could suck this bad either, but it isnt my JOB to ensure that my 150 mil per year cash cow wasnt starving to death.

As for finding the right people, I seriously dont k ow how you sit across the table from Sharkie and think anything but this guy is functionally retarded

I really should have added a third fatal mistake, and this is a big one. Foley assumed it was plausible to bankroll a large portion of the new SEC TV windfall and still be competitive.

The hiring of Muschamp was by far the worse decision of the decade and led to everything else.

Welp, it's 2021 and Dildo Dan is shoved so far up your a** you're stuck with him for at least four more seasons. Enjoy!
Not a chance. Oct 31 or the next Oct 31 is all he has. It depends on how cheap we are.

The let him explore the NFL (and get laughed at) was a reasonably smart attempt at not having to fire him. It appears instead he will be living in a barn in Michigan coaching a directional achool also.

Even the pumpers are no longer blind to what is coming, and soon.

I’ll go with #2 if I have to choose from this list. Not because necessarily of who was lost, but the abortion that was replacing them. Addazio and circling the wagons around his piss poor offense set the stage for that annually for most of the decade.

2010 we couldn’t block anyone. Opposing DLs were teeing off on every play. Urban failed to get enough OL on campus. He knew it would take years to recover from that and the broken culture. A week before his sudden retirement, he vowed to fix this thing. The day before his sudden retirement the FBI notified his good friends at the OSU athletic department about several infractions involving their head coach. I’m sure that’s coincidental.
On the bright side, by 2013 they had learned how to block each other...

I’m going to go a different way. I’ll say Meyer winning the MNC in 2008.

It empowered Foley to believe that he was untouchable. That he was the reason we won championships. We had the back to backs in B-ball and then the football championships separated by a year.

He’s the one who decided we would not update facilities with his ridiculous “we won’t get into an arms race” statement. He’s the one who got cute with his coaching picks in Chump and Maclestain.

He’s the one who would not invest in coaching staffs, believing that Florida could just recruit itself.

He’s the one that held up the indoor practice facility.

And he’s the one who is remaining around the program, infecting it with his ineptitude.

And his presence in the program to this day is the reason why the university had to settle for their 4th or 5th choice for an athletics director.

I believe Gator J nailed it

He did.

Law gets credit for the funniest post of the thread with his “functionally retarded” description of McElwain.

But J was spot on and summed it up perfectly.
