I just can't understand why he didn't fire Grantham, and nobody asked any question about Grantham that I noticed.

They asked about all the defensive problems and Coach Mullen blamed the players being lazy and not lining up quick enough. What else is there to know about it? He threw the players under the bus and protected Grantham.
So when your players continue to do the exact same procedural things for an ENTIRE season like taking too long to line up who's fault is it really? It has been a problem that has been pointed out for a couple years actually. It's without a doubt a coaching issue and a lack of defining an organizational problem and fixing it. It's also on the coaches when we have players, LOTS of players, who constantly take bad angles and don't know how to tackle because coaches do the recruiting. If you don't know how to tackle by the time you get to college then you never should have been recruited.
Before watching this, I'm thinking of a drinking game. One shut every time he says "position to be successful". I might not watch. I probably wouldn't make it to work tomorrow.

Dan is a lying *******. Nothing new here.
I have been a DC at the varsity level twice. When the O lines up, you line up. The only thing left to call is the DL stunt (if any), blitz package (if any) and the secondary coverage. You usually base that on down and distance, tendency, game situation, and feel. The feel is what you get based on how the game is going. Is your blitz getting there, is coverage confusing the QB, are your DBs holding up? DBs running all over the field looking at the sidelines is stupid.
The fact this takes so long to get lined up is ridiculous. In most cases, the O can run any play from any formation. What he is doing is he is either confused or is trying to guess what the O is going to run.

Look at it this way, if you a 17 year old trying to pick a college program, and Mullen walks into your home and tells your family he will be there for the duration of your time at UF. Then you see this or the rumors which were played nationally without him quickly denying them what does that tell you?
let's hope not.Irrelevant because everybody knows Dan hasn't been in a high school kid's living room.

The problem with us is that we get coaches who stubbornly tolerate mediocrity in themselves and others. We will never compete with Alabama as long as it keeps up. I'm beginning to think it's something in the water here. We haven't had a coach since SOS who was stubborn in the right way, i.e., stubbornness tempered by impatience. It even happened to Urbs with Addazio.Coaches by nature are damn stubborn and sometimes to a fault. In fairness, I don't know anyone that has been successful in what they do without some stubborn tendencies but he strikes me as one incapable of pushing it to the side in order to evolve.
Its not players lining up too slow. Well, it might be sometimes, but its a scheme issue because fat head todd wants to see the offense line up before he tells them what to do. So blaming on the players is a lie.
There never really is a single problem in many things in life and this is no different. Problems normally have depth and a history. Foley was a big problem with the hires of chump and butters as well as the resistance to update facilities. Other problems birthed from that problem like poor relationships with instate high schools and recruits coming to UF and seeing outdated facilities compare to other places. Also the attitude of players in the program and no real vision can probably be blamed on butters. Throw in that we replaced Foley with Stricklin who seems to be of the same mold as Foley and you have some same issues perpetuating. Throw in Mullen (to Mullen's credit, he has done a pretty good job of synergizing the program with at least a vision and path forward to bring the program out of dumpster fire status to a top shelf mid level plateau) who seems to be a bit lazy in recruiting and is hell bent on retaining staff members who are either lazy recruiters and/or horrible coaches.
