I think it’s a recent discovery.
Based on @Seedy ’s stance on the fungus, my guess is they would have more impact as a preventative measuremushrooms probably have something to do with it.
It is a great lake and we fished out of Whippoorwill quite a bit when I was younger. We recently enjoyed the Whip restaurant until it closed, septic tank and drainage issues I heard. That was the nicest part of the lake on the Gadsden county side in my opinion.Moby Dicks was some really good southern food for a long time.
Mom moved from Killearn up to Talquin in the 90’s. Just sold the house this summer. It was directly across from the dam near the Whippoorwill marina. Prime real estate. The new owners tore down the old cinder block house and will rebuild in a few years. That’s a terrific lake.
Not a big fan but it is useful as a binding agent on chicken wings or pretty much any chicken with the skin still on to hold dry rub on pieces when you’re cooking them on the grill. You never even taste it.
Found a roach in a Publix pre-roasted chicken - of course it wasn't until we ate half.
