Good rebound game after the loss to Ark but have to keep in mind the dwags aren't very good and we are at home. But still, this one was as much of a must win as we have had, and so far team has responded well.

First and last 5 minutes of the game were pretty bad. The rest of the game was mostly good.

We really never slowed down the game. From the 8 minute mark on we had 19 possessions and only took the shot clock below 10 seconds 3 times.

From 8 min to 4 min we increased our lead from 13 to 15.

The biggest issue was from 6:01 to 1:36 when we had 10 possessions and 5 turnovers.

Final 1:36 was fairly classic strategy. Ran clock down to 2 sec once which effectively cut the time remaining in half. Unfortunately took a bad shot.

Overall went 8-8 from free throws final 5:34 min.

Clock-lead-bonus-ball = checkmate.

Turnovers gave them some air but never lost control of the game.

Even if they called a foul on man. At the very least we should’ve gotten two foul shots . Never seen a player get two foul shots for elbowing his opponent in the face .

I recall 3-4 possessions under 2-3 minutes remaining thT looked like the typical stall-ball, sloppy dribbling that allowed TOs. Had we maintained the 17 point lead, we likely would have seen it happen sooner.

You don't understand the rules of basketball do you? An elbow to the face is typically a flagrant foul... UNLESS a Gator gets the elbow, in which case the refs are required to call a foul against UF that occurred 5-6 seconds previously. Duh, everybody knows that.

From 3:00 to finish:

2:55 turnover with 13 sec on clock
2:35 turnover with 15 sec on clock
1:58 basket by Lewis 10 sec on clock
1:36 turnover with 23 sec on clock
1:25 fouled with 27 sec on clock hit 2 FT’s
:44 missed shot with 2 sec on clock ( this was clearly by design to burn clock. Right call but bad shot and missed.
:27 fouled and hit 2 FT’s
:17 ran out the clock

Never went to any designed stall until about a little over a minute when we ran it down to 44 seconds (held it 28 seconds before shooting)which was the right strategy.

I’m as critical as anyone when it comes to taking the air out of the ball too early. That’s why I chart it from the 8 minute mark. But I can’t criticize It today. We continued to compete. From about 3:57 to 1:36 we had 3 bad turnovers with 13, 15 and 23 seconds left on the clock. Very sloppy dribbling as you say and a consistent issue. We are not strong with the ball and not a great passing team either.

So, you think that the 3 TOs you listed occurred while we were running the typical offense? Didn't look like it to me.

It amazes me how the dribbling gets so sloppy when we're sitting on a lead, as if the players are out of rhythm and winging it and don't know what to do when the other team presses out of desperation. They look drunk with 2 left hands and 2 left feet and they don't look like that for the first 32-35 minutes of the game.

I'll admit, there's much about the game I don't understand, I just know what I see and the wash-rinse-repeat pattern is difficult to ignore.
