Florida is up 68-51 at the under 4 timeout. Sloppy play has continued. We are getting mugged every possession with no fouls being called

Refs have been allowing a LOT of contact by Auburn to see if this becomes a game...but annoying as it is, Auburn can't mount a sustained comeback. Gators have remained 16-20 points ahead pretty comfortably this half too. It's sloppy at times, but we're breaking the press often enough to score pts and Auburn isn't scoring on the other end to make it interesting.

Playing an unusually stable game late so we’re matching baskets with Auburn giving them no chance to get it close.

Looks like we are going get a win tonight

A win on the road is extra-good. Had too many unnecessary sloppy stretches. As much as Mann is relied upon tonight, Castleton & Payne were not relied upon enough. If not against Auburn, then what teams will White train his boys on using their "big-men"?

Nice game and well coached tonight. I’m not too concerned with their guard missing the game knowing our player of the year candidate is out also.

We established a lead early and controlled the game start to finish. Castleton was getting mugged and had a hard time controlling the ball on entry passes as a result.

The press somewhat exposed our ball handling. We are not strong with the ball but sometimes make up for our shakiness with some pure speed. Mann did seem to be more composed against pressure.

Mann and Lewis were dynamic tonight...especially Mann with 13 boards.

Gators managed the lead real well the entire “4th Qtr”. Total control.

2-game winning streak. Can we extend it on Saturday?

I thought Castleton was getting mugged all night long which gave him fits with the ball. But he played through it and contributed with some tough points and about 8 rebounds.

Payne is never going to be relied on until he shakes out of whatever funk he has been in for 2 seasons. He has talent and athleticism. But he continues to have defensive lapses and often appears confused. Offensively he is completely, absolutely and totally lost. The last 2 games he has played 37 minutes and taken 4 shots. Castleton gets on the court and immediately asserts himself offensively. Fights for position....calls for the ball...uses footwork, drop steps, spin moves, pump fakes and blends into the offense. Payne sets high picks. That’s it. Sets high picks. Virtually never posts up aggressively and calls for the ball. Payne is an elite dunker and shot blocker but it is completely on him to transform himself into a viable player.

Trust me I really like this kid and think he will eventually turn the corner. But man it’s frustrating waiting on him.

Payne could be a player but he doesn’t have the want to. Just look how Castleton kept fighting in spite of the shiity refs.

Agree....Payne often has a flat persona. Castleton looks like he wants to fight you at times.

Payne is a 4 year guy. If he doesn’t transfer his next two years could be productive. I hope he makes it. He could be fun to watch.

Huge special win on the road tonight against Sweaty Bruce. We dominated from start to finish which is good to see. On to Rupp on Saturday which is a revenge game for us but UK has been hot winning 3 games in a row. We have no chance at Rupp, they will get all the ref calls there for sure. Tre Mann with a HUGE game with 19 points and 13 rebounds. Scottie finally broke out with 16 points and 5 steals.

Auburn is not a good defensive team. I did however like how our offense ran for the first half.
Even when shots weren't going in they were good looks. Also hopefully this outing brings
more out of Lewis. He was fantastic last night after a pretty poor start to conference play.

We took on a team that perceived us to be soft and decided play a physical South Carolina type game. We took the blows and punched back harder. Good game for the Gators.

Wishful thinking here? White should practice them to work through the "hot-hand". That includes how to use him a % of the time as a decoy. We generally know who those hot-guys can be = Mann, Castleton... then Appleby, Lewis ... then Payne, Duruji. We are blessed with plenty of talent for White to rehearse (drill in) such a varied-sameness style that has been ready to be taught for a good while. Thinking of defense should not block offensive thinking. This is overdue. Not many coaches would be so long missing this.

Players' basketball IQ goes up training for this. Besides, what has White been training them for so far?

We ran the same inbounds play every time and they knew exactly what we were doing so that part was horrible and I think Coach White needs to do a lot better there.

I think once we actually got the ball inbounds we were actually doing fine. If hand checks were a thing (well...they are... but apparently not to these refs) then I don't think the game would have ever gotten closer than 20 points in the second half.

You are spot on. It was strange because White has a variety of sideline and baseline inbounds plays that are creative and normally effective. I was also wondering what was going on last night particularly against the press. Rather than any of our design press breaks it seemed we simply relied on speed to get open and speed to get up the court which led to some ugly play at times. Although admittedly several times we did get up the court in a hurry and got some open breakaways.

Bottom line is we need to clean that up quick. We are not good enough ballhandlers to not have more structure and advance with passing rather than dribbling. Presses work by doubling/trapping the ball and creating chaos. Press breaks counter that pressure by remaining calm and passing through the pressure. You have to stay out of corners and having players flashing middle. Do not bring more defenders to the ball. Do not pick up your dribble. Make defense defend sideline to sideline.

I sure wish we had a decent coach that could build on lessons learned.
