Will New York City and Broadway and tourism in general ever come back to this level?

No.

And it’s as much BLM and the general disaster that is DeBlasio as it is Covid itself. When you have decades old hotels closing because they were forced into taking homeless people in their 4/5* rooms to keep them from contracting a virus, that pretty much sums it up. Meanwhile he encouraged massive protests that forced all of the midtown/5th/Broadway area businesses to shut down and board up. And then as one more punch to the the face of a great city, he reduced the number of cops patrolling those usual tourist areas so crime in a once extremely safe area has skyrocketed. It would take a complete overhaul from a leadership standpoint, which is not happening as long as Q/B/B areas have a say. And the chances of reason and logic prevailing are dwindling daily as the smart people are leaving, opting to flee to surrounding counties, due to work-from-home capabilities, or other states all together. It’s incredible how quickly this all happened. Less than a year to destroy a legendary city.

Sadly, I don't care.....
Sadly? Why???

NYC is a significant maritime hub, benefiting US trade and commerce, so its existence is necessary. Otherwise, I have no warm and fuzzy feelings about NYC. Delusional misfits like AOC who think southerners are jealous of NYC life severely overestimate the appeal of that concrete wasteland. Visiting there (not voluntarily) simply confirmed my suspicion that I have no desire to be there.

I have visited NYC many times, been on Broadway on New Years Eve, gone to Musicals and partaken of the night life and I really don't care about ever going back. Overall it's dirty, over-priced and unfriendly..... The inhabitants think they are superior to everyone else and parking is non existent. Really a waste of time but everyone should visit at least once to make up their own mind. There are some really good restaurants "before Covid" but nothing I can't find other places.

I'll never go back

The question was is about tourism in general as Florida is highly dependent on it....New Year’s in Times Square was just to set the tone....
