i just don’t think he’s a subpar coach. Mediocre recruiter for sure.

I don’t think we lose more than 2 games this year.

I'll give Billy G credit for the last two years - he had some talented receivers, but the offense we ran is nothing like what Mullen has run as long as I've followed him (from late 2004, watching some Utah games through now). He'd be much better in my book if he could recruit better - just look at Alabama & Ohio State. It doesn't matter who their WR coach is, as long as he's competent, because the talent they're bringing in will overcome coaching deficiencies.

(My opinion) If Mullen would make about 4 or 5 changes he'd position himself to be as successful as the coaches he's behind right now (Saban, Smart, Riley, Day, Dabo): get a new (competent) DC, a new OL coach, beef up the recruiting office, and add a few more analysts (to help coaches like Billy G, Robinson, and Hevesy (if he doesn't get a new OL coach)). The facilities will hopefully be done in the next 12-15 months, so that excuse will be gone.

Sapp just received a CB to FSU today. Looks like they may beat us out for another recruit.

I’m not saying that our staff recruits well

An apt criticism would be "Mullen needs better recruiters and Mullen should set the leading example." I know everyone is tired of this stalling pattern of not getting to it. There is zero dynamism & these youngsters are drawn to that.

He isnt a subpar OC. He CAN be a really good OC, as he showed at the first of last year until he decided covering for Third and Grantham was more important than scoring points and winning.

He is however wedded to a decidedly below average offensive scheme, even for an option scheme.

He is also decidedly comfortable with being average. 85% of the.coaches win the games when you.have more talent. That is all he.does too. He will never be elite primarily bc he doesnt try to be elite.

Anyone have a Rivals subscription?

It is quite interesting isnt it? All the top QBs and their coaches etc show what they think of our offense.
