I agree that Hagler was a part of the best of times for boxing. However, I find it interesting that many have referenced the reason why I stopped following the sport with that being the corruption.
One cannot mention Hagler without mentioning the Leonard robbery. One should never mention Ali without referencing the shenanigans with Spinks that allowed Ali to win the title for a third time. The Roy Jones Jr robbery has also been mentioned.
I just got tired of a sport that was clearly corrupt and many times seemed to have predetermined outcomes.
I believe that this is one of the reasons why interest in the sport has diminished.
