I haven't heard the name Elgin Baylor in years. Great all around player in scoring, rebounding, and passing. The Lakers had a great tandem with Baylor at forward and teammate Jerry West at guard.
But they had a tough time handling Red Auerbach and the Celtics.
Correct
It wasn’t until the Lakers got Chamberlain that West, at least, got a ring. Unfortunately Elgin was gone by then.

I could be wrong but I think Elgin retired during the 71-72 championship season.
That was one of the best teams ever....69-13 and 33 straight wins. Wilt, Happy Hairston, Jim McMillan, Gail Goodrich and Jerry West starting. Keith Erickson and Pat Riley coming off the bench. Hairston was the only player ever to grab 1000 rebounds in a season playing along side Wilt.
I just googled it. Elgin played 9 games with the Lakers in 71-72. Apparently had a bad knee and retired. I wish he could have got that ring.Actually his last season with the Lakers was the 70-71 season so he missed out on a ring
He was with the New Orleans Jazz that season
True. The Lakers and Chamberain needed each other to beat the Celtics. Wilt the Stilt had a tough time with the Celtics when he played on a talented 76er team (Chet Walker, Hal Greer) prior to his stint with the Lakers.

I wanted him to get one too
He and West toiled away for years dominating the west only to lose to the Celtics every year. He was one of my favorite players when I was a kid.
Same but knew the name. RIP.
It’s ok that people are younger then your old ass. By the way, I never got a like for wishing you a happy birthday in your birthday thread so I’m considering taking it back.Well, duh. The dude was retired before you little blips were on your horny dad’s mind.
