This guy just cashed in - but if we had hired him most of us would be up in arms:
do you think that perhaps that is because one HC had a long history of identifying talent and also hiring a deep bench in case he makes a mistake and the other guy has a long history of hiring turds and keeping them?

I was curious so I added it up: $7,230,000.

Being on Saban's staff no doubt means you will work your azz off, but at least you will be well compensated.

This doesn't include Graham (who just left/quit - they're in the process of hiring a new ST's coach) - but, including Graham's salary, they are paying $1mil less than they paid their assistants last year.

Actually, just the opposite.

They have such a huge staff doing most of the difficult work, doing all the initial and reviews of video, with quality reviews by senior people befoee it gets to the staff, that in fact the Bama people work for less than a staff like UF where the assistants are expected to do all the recruiting and game prep themselves.

it is also why you see these staffers failing when they go elsewhere away from the mothership.

Meyer was known as the real slave driver coach. 5:00am meetings on Sunday etc.

With Mullens, the MO.seems to be no prep, just wing it.

You have a source for this? Everything I've ever read about Saban is the man is a grinder and expects his staff to be grinders as well. Meyer may have been worse, but that does not mean being on Saban's staff isn't onerous.

Being on Saban's staff means you can focus on YOUR job; coaching your position group - and - recruiting. Other than that, I'm sure they contribute to game planning, meetings, etc. But they're not doing some of the multi-tasking that other coaching staff's are required to do.

Sure. But not right off the top of my head. Give me some time.

He's definitely a total ass hole micro manager.

sits on on everything including position coach meetings, offensive game plan meetings, special teams game plans etc.

But as far as the number of hours go they're not a death camp up there, primarily because each staff has a hundred helpers. it's why people are so quick to jump on to his quality staff or consultants or whatever they call them today.

I look forward to seeing a link. Like I said, everything I’ve ever read was to the contrary.

Chad Morris, with a pocket full of Arkansas buyout cash, is now a HS head coach at Texas HS power Allen HS. Morris is a former Texas HS coach at multiple schools and won 6 state championships. He was Gus Malzahn's OC last year at Auburn:

I just don't understand this constant comparing us to Alabama. What form of twisted self abuse is that? We are just so not them, and ain't gonna.

Interesting:

IMG Academy: Head Coach Bobby Acosta, is leaving after one season, going 8-0, to take the head coaching job at Del Valle HS (TX). Del Valle is a school with some of the nicest facilities in high school football, and services just over 3,100 in the high school, according to data available in 2018-19, and the ISD serves 11,000 kids across 15 campuses. Before taking over at IMG, Acosta was a college coach with stops at St. Scholastica (D-III – MN), Bucknell (FCS), Cornell (FCS), and Syracuse).

Show some links then.

Saban is an *******, but home early. That's why he has 120 staffers doing the work so his guys just read summaries instead of doing it themselves.

It's also why all his staff have poor work ethics when they leave the hive.
