We landed a transfer guard, averaged 17+ ppg.

....shoots over 40% from the arc and was conference defensive player of the year.

The CMW roller coaster is baffling.

Focusing only on the rebuild and not what got us here to begin with:

Great pickup. Glover left and Brandon wants to be here. He’s a better player and very likely will score more points in his 1 year here than Glover will in his remaining 2. Definitely an upgrade. I like Glover and his energy but I think he is better suited at a different level of play.

As to MW his only shot at sticking around past next season (despite anything Stricklin says publicly) is to make sure every incoming transfer is as good or better than the exiting transfer. He is not effective recruiting HS talent but now has an opportunity to pull in some guys with actual college experience. I would really like CJ Felder next. We need a power player with skill desperately.

Locke only had 1 year left and the rest had 2. Not that much difference given the existing culture. Focus on talent for now. This kid will help.

6'3 guard that shoots 43% from 3 hopefully he can keep close to that pace for us.

He's a senior so it's a bandaid for the program

I used Glover as an example but maybe Locke is more appropriate. Brandon appears to shoot the 3 as good or better, can put the ball on the floor, is 6’3, and was a defensive player of the year. If he can approximate that in our conference he is a clear upgrade. Both have a year left.

I would have preferred to not have found us in this position but here we are. Our only option is to upgrade each transfer.

Upgrade in transfers one for one would be our only hope, but it will not be a team of Gators. I will cheer us winning, except it wouldn't be us. Next year is already set to be awkwardly hypocritical. A great bit of fan-bond is that we're feeling pride for our "home-grown team."??
This "wholesale" replacement is a stumble & fall in spirit, like dribbling it off our foot - a ludicrous turnover.

Maybe he’s doing the opposite of Calipari. Instead of a new team of freshmen every year. He’s got a team of transfers.

Very few programs are built on 4 year players anymore. The top players all declare after one or two seasons. Is Brandon going to be less a Gator in one year than Glover was in 2?

That's correct, however to me it is better to have a base of talented players who stay at least three years. Supplement them with transfers and hopefully one or two "one and done" players. I am glad Lewis is going (apparently a head case) but turn pro :scratchhead:.

Valid question if we were cheering a team of mostly long-term Gators with one new addition, not one of a majority of one-season ramblers with now a hot-seat HC that a large number of fans no longer want. This collapsing is happening because of Mike White's seasons long poor HC leadership, his abilities & fortitude as a Program CEO. ??

Next year, will we look on the court and see strangers carrying "Gator-pride", and then look to the bench at a lot of strangers there? That is way beyond the "nature" of how transferring is going. Check the other schools' "forced-use" of numerous transfers.

If White pulls this together to create a team bonded & smooth in playing with fundamental competence, without mystical back-sliding, I will dazzlingly cheer every "meaningful season win." This year and its end, White built more criticism & doubt than he built a developing team. As reported last at last year's-end collapse he said, "What can I do?"(implying he'd taken all the coaching steps & it's the players' faults for not being good players) ... Am I fabricating all this such that it's my fault? I am very sorry to be feeling this way but what more can I do - it's not my fault. :D :cry2:

No I think most are in agreement on how we got here. I think we are in near unanimous agreement on what we would like changed. But given what appears to be the absolute reality that it won’t happen then we need to rebuild the team as best we can.

I don’t believe a transfer to Florida is any less a Gator than a new recruit. I dont think they will give in any less effort. They didn’t cause this issue and while others ran from this they stepped towards it. Maybe that will count for something. Castleton was immediately accepted into the fold. We just have more of them coming in than before. The first one seems like a definite win. Let’s hope we get some more.

Don't mean to be trashing toward individual athletes. We all know how hard and diligently they drive themselves. Freshmen signees have visited &/or studied UF many times during their last 2 years of H.S. recruiting. They carry out a process of leaning more & more toward Gator faithfulness that is college basketball.

UF's $3 million dollar coach will be playing athletes other programs trained. So, how crucial can he be - especially when those players under him become sloppy dribblers, inept passers, lose BBall-IQ, can do nothing about "late-game" collapses, foul-up at "stall-ball", etc? We will have to watch another season of "White-style" to find out. Just what will our 2022 season convince us of? Maybe White will transmogrify into a full-on college basketball coach.

Again I think we agree as most do. I just want us to proceed in gathering the most talent possible and supporting them fully. If the coach fails to produce next year he will be fired just as quickly as he would be if he did not pursue talented transfers and lost every game.

We have finally reached the season that holds all the marbles. I’ve been around too long and have seen far too many owners, GM’s and AD’s lie through their teeth to believe anything our AD is saying now. MW will be gone if he doesn’t instill confidence in this program next season.

'nuff said too much by me. Here's to a great composite team that inspires our original team members who stuck with UF.
Hurry up to prove me (& others) wrong - I'm losing it. It's like I've been coached by Mike White. :trainwreck:

I was incredibly high on hopium the year MW signed Tre Mann, Scottie Lewis and Omar Payne. It was one of the highest rated Gator BB classes ever. Now they are all gone, and we got bupkis to show for it. MW sucks donkey dick and swings from Fuchs nutsack. :nutswinger:

At least we only have one freshman commit this year. Wouldn't want to load up and not leave room for any transfers.

I wish I shared your disgust but I don’t.
Today’s players have a lot to say and view themselves as beacons of society that have voices.
That fan was simply using their voice.
He's been a good kid though. And gave a nice thank you to the fans. It was a dick move. I could understand and agree if it was a little dickhead like Marco Wilson.
