You all are missing the importance of the dissatisfaction getting loud enough that the UAA wrote an article about graduations and Stricklin thought he had to make this statement.

I'm looking for something positive. In June 2017, Striklin said "Both Coach Mac and Coach White have done a phenomenal job of leading our programs and we are looking forward to having them lead the Gators for years to come." The shark fuchser was fired 4 months later.

Thanks...I needed that.

I love the old “vote of confidence”! This usually means termination is right around the corner, I can’t recall a single time a coach has failed, had been given the old pep talk and it actually be true!

Hope this is the accurate take on this, because the fanbase is CLEARLY dissatisfied with the state of the program and darn near our entire team leaving after this last year is a pretty damning indictment of White's abilities as a "long-term coach" and face of the program.

White inherited a perennial Top 15 team when he took the reigns; and has only sniffed that once in his 6-year tenure here (Year 2, when he advanced on a last-second shot by Cheese to the Elite 8; and had been ranked from weeks 8 onwards, after being unranked to start the season). By every available metric we have (wins, national rankings, tournament performance, etc), the basketball program has gone backwards. White got bailed out by Covid last season from the very real reality we were a bubble team--at best--and were likely to miss out on the tournament.

Stricklin: Mike White will be here as long as I am.

We can only hope so. I'd love to see them leave together.

Only because he forced his way out with the "death threat" lies. If Butters wanted it, he'd still be roaming our sideline right now. They had no intention of firing his dumb ass.
