Several good suggestions already. But I'd add Basil Hayden, which should be in the low 40s for you, and is my favorite around that price range.

+1 for Basil Hayden - that's my favorite under $50 bourbon. I'm heading to bourbon country this weekend...if the weather doesn't prevent travel.

Buffalo Trace is in Frankfort and about 30 minutes from you. Woodford Reserve is just a bit farther.

I'm not sure if we'll go on a bourbon tasting - I heard a lot of the places may be closed. I'm staying two nights in Shelbyville and one night in downtown Louisville. I'll definitely be at Doc Crows on Thursday after I fly in. It's supposed to snow Thursday there and a low of 5 on Friday morning (Oooooof!).

CD - I've been to Woodford, but not Buffalo Trace. I'll mention that to the group.

For anyone that's gone to the UF/UK games in Lexington - I've done Four Rose, Wild Turkey, Woodford and a couple others I can't remember. Always a great time. I'm hoping to be there this fall - so let's plan a meet up if any of you degenerates are going.

Heard Peerless and Michters are cool. I think they’re both in that area.

Dem Gov, so probably shut down pretty good

Yep. The Dem governor is a genuine c*cksucker!

Speaking of Michters - I'm watching "Billions" on Showtime right now and they were drinking it. I've never had it. In the show, the bartender was like, "Sir, that's $80 a glass." The wife responds, "We'll take the bottle."

they have some old bourbon they put out every year, but they just started distilling a few years back. The $80 a glass reference was probably the 20 yr old. Not a lot of experience with the Michter's line.

UPDATE...Wilderness Trail "Yellow Label" was a BIG HIT with my Son-in-Law...Went to the "Top Shelf" of his bar.

When asked..."Oh, it's good...real good"

Never heard of it but Danville is 30 minutes south of us. @Seedy have you tried this one?

She hates the smell of bourbon. I’ve always wanted to do The Bourbon Trail.
Did it a while back. Not worth it. Just visit the distilleries you like. The Alltech distillery in Lexington is awful, but on the trail. Versus Buffalo Trace not on the trail, but a great experience.

A friend had a birthday party at Buffalo Trace a few years ago. Great place.
