Certainly nice to get an SEC sweep but it was an absolute must for this team. Of course you are not going to have a blow out every game, but this team can ill afford the silly mistakes they continue to make. The pitching staff is beyond razor thin and can't afford to give teams extra outs. It was great to see Leftwich have another good outing. Perhaps may be time to put him back in as a starter and Alemon back to the pen? Regarding Mace yesterday I was at the game and it just seems when he gets 2 strikes on a hitter or has a plus count, he seems to find the meat of the plate when he does not need to. I realize you do not want to waste a lot of pitches but at 0-2, 1-2, the last thing you want to do is throw a meatball.

Need to win the series at the Barn at a minimum to stay relevant as both Rocker and Lighter have been touched up each once a bit the last two weeks with Vandy.

My pool friend's grandson has committed to the Gators, here he is. I don't know a thing about baseball, but suspect I am going to have to learn.

Andrew Painter

She said he's one of the top pitching prospects in the country.

Okay, so tell me where I need to start. I know zip about bb....

Seems to me based on physical attributes alone that this kid will be a very intriguing prospect to all major league teams, meaning he could be a very high draft pick out of high school and never step foot on a college campus? But on paper as a college recruit, seems like a upper tier get.

Thanks. My friend was very excited...I think the whole family are Gator fans. He looks like a big kid, haven't had eyes on, but I know the diff between 6'3" and 6'6", so when I get eyes on, I'll let ya'll know. Guess we'll have to wait for July to see what happens.

The scouts I talk with at Gator games say they are looking for kids that love to battle. They meet pressure with pressure rather than caving in to it. What the kid has between his ears is every bit as important, if not more so than his arm. That is oversimplified but it gives you the gist of it. I wish him the best!!

Carrion had some great at-bats fouling off a half dozen or more pitches till he got his pitch or walked. But you are dead right about most of the team. All they care about is launch angle and exit velocity and I just cant watch it anymore.

Yes and thats called damn good hitting and my guess is that he's just a solid baseball player and was that way in HS. I'm sure the rest were killing it in HS...against HS pitching and even travel ball but power 5 college baseball is waaaayy different. Some of it is just laziness on the mental side of things and a one trick pony running the show....IMO.

Oh please...that can't be true. I mean if you go on twitter and listen to the "real" experts on PBR and others, coaches are looking for kids that touch 90 as a sophomore and exit velos and 90+ with good "lift". And the sub 8 sec 60 time because we all know that it's sooo important that you can run a 60 yds in a straight line really fast because you have to do it all the time in baseball. Sarcasm intended.

The problem I have with Sully is his coaching philosophy looks to be more of that of a showcase team coach than a coach that can figure out a way to win ball games...period.

I'll drink to that!! If there was a heart and kisses emoji on this board I would have hit it for that post.

What an all around rotten year for Gator athletics. Lacrosse will probably win a natty and the NCAA will give us a trophy for COVID protocol, yawn.

Yeah Gator Volleyball girls not able to pull out a W vs #1 Wisky in the Elite 8. VERY surprising that Mary Wise has been at UF for 31 years and has 0 NCs. She has won the SEC 24 times and has 8 Final 4s but just can't win that VERY elusive NC. She brings in SO much talent over the years from ALL over the country and world for that matter and just can't win it all. Great program obviously but just lacking that NC.

My bad, forgot about the volleyball team. It's a fine program.

JU in Jacksonville at 7:00 pm. After losses to caines and fau, jax comes into our house in March and takes game one in the 9th. The Gators took the next two, blankng them 9-0 in game 2 ot fhat series. We have some momentum going now and we cannot let up even though Jax at home may not look that good on paper. Players from both teams probably played with and against each other since Little League. This is for lying and bragging!!

I would not quite go that far. A weekend series is one thing. A mid week tilt is another. Our weekend starting pitching is not what it was cracked up to be and our main mid week starter (Milchen) is below average. I know he had multiple injuries and hung around and toughed it out, but from a pitching talent standpoint he does not offer all that much. We need to win against the SEC opponents. these mid week games are to me mainly for the hitters to try and straighten out their horrible habits and gain some confidence.

A good friend listened to the game on the radio. Sounds like more of the same. Our stud starters are unreliable and/or soft and the bull pen is a hot mess. They gave up 7 runs on 5 hits but had 7 walks and 4 hit by pitch.

FireFoley is right; pitching rotation during the week is not the same as the rotation on the weekend. The weekend rotation is reserved for our sec opponents. It seems like a mistake not to take the mid week opponents seriously for the fans, the noles are midweek opponents, but getting ready for the sec tournament is our most important objective right now. We are simply not the team we were a year ago!

I think sully is concentrating on the infield play as much as anything else. Error free ball can keep an average team in a game. But when batting and pitching go south, as we've seen this year, the Gators appear to be less than an average team.

If Leftwich continues his run in relief, it can only help our starters. But to right this ship, someone needs to step up to be a consistent team leader. There are a lot of games left and this team has played well at times, but we need to bring our "A" game all the time for good things to happen, and that will take leadership.

We managed to take game 1, just barely, against the one of the 2 worst teams in the conference. They haven't posted the stats yet. Evidently we had 10 hits but not with men in scoring position except for the 4th and 9th innings. We still had 9 k's and only 2 walks. Auburn had 11 hits, 2 walks and 10 k's.
