There is no mystery here and it is certainly not about Tim's ego. Tebow is a world class athlete and inspirational leader. The prospect of having him in the locker room and on the field has huge upside potential and Urban Meyer needs all the upside he can get to turn this team around. It is obvious that Meyer had to persuade Tebow to even consider this arrangement given the fact that Tim was not willing to consider this move for anybody else.

I don’t think that acknowledgment of the lack of ethics and morals in the NFL is trashing Tebow. It’s quite the opposite.

Tim could've had a long and productive NFL career behind him already if he'd been willing to switch to TE about 10 years ago. Might be a little too late at this point, although if they can afford the roster spot, he can probably still come in situationally and pick up some third downs for his old Coach here and there. And in Jacksonville, he'll put a lot of asses in the seats while he's at it.
