Got a TPS REPORT, hot off the presses!

Tebow Practice Summary, from ESPN:

Tebow’s transition from quarterback seems to be going smoothly...during the two-hour workout at the practice fields adjacent to TIAA Bank Field.

Tebow got extra coaching after several reps during blocking drills and at times looked a little hesitant or a half-step behind in others. But he caught every pass thrown his way, including two that went for touchdowns: one from Lawrence and another from Gardner Minshew.

“[He’s] one in 90 trying to make the team,” coach Urban Meyer said of Tebow, who is little more than a week into his career as a tight end. “He has improved. It’s all new for him.”

One good thing for the Jaguars is Tebow hasn’t been a distraction, which seemed to be one of the criticisms levied at the team and Meyer after Jacksonville signed the former Heisman Trophy winner.

“Obviously, everybody knows the type of worker that he is and it’s no different,” said wide receiver Marvin Jones Jr., who was the team’s oldest player (31) until the 33-year-old Tebow signed May 20. “He came in here and fit right in, just working and learning and stuff like that. In the back, when he’s not in, he’s looking at the plays and running extra and doing what he needs to do to get this new position going.

“So it’s been good to have him here, most definitely.”

I think people are overlooking the fact Tebow is not there as a TE. He's there because he's a QB, Wildcat, FB, Holder, and then a TE.

On Thursday, NFL fans got their first glimpse of Tim Tebow working out for the Jacksonville Jaguars. The 33-year-old former college quarterback, minor league baseball player and SEC Network analyst is back on the football field.

But Tebow is definitely working out as a tight end, as reports confirmed he would be earlier this month.

Tebow took the field at the Jaguars OTA on Thursday, donning the No. 85. The 6-foot-3, 245 pound tight end appears to have stayed in good shape since he left professional football and looks ready to get to work.

Video captured Tebow going through tight end drills at the Jaguars practice on Thursday. He showed reliable hands in a few pass-catching exercises and also appeared to work on blocking.

Take a look, courtesy of AP’s Mark Long (has to throw in his hate) and Jaguar Reports’ John Shipley:

It’s early but Tebow seems to be fitting right in with the Jaguars other tight ends.

Although the former Florida quarterback sounds committed to switching positions, there’s still no guarantee that he won’t take on a unique role in Jacksonville. According to ESPN’s Dianna Russini, Urban Meyer has contemplated using Tebow in a “Taysom Hill role”, asking him to do more than just play as a traditional tight end.

“They think that Urban Meyer purposely brought Tebow in, 1.) to set the culture, the competitiveness—we know he’s a new NFL head coach here—trying to set the tone for the culture,” Russini said on Get Up! on Thursday. “But the bigger story, I think, that is the most interesting part of this, is that there are those in the league that Urban Meyer brought Tebow in to play quarterback, that Taysom Hill role, using him in that Wildcat that we’ve seen Urban Meyer use in the past. Take a look at all those different offenses, it actually makes a lot of sense. So he may be on the roster as a tight end, but there may be more to this Tebow experiment than him just playing that position.”

Tebow will be a player to monitor through training camp and during the preseason. While the media attention is focused on the former Florida star, the Jaguars and Meyer can work on developing No. 1 overall pick Trevor Lawrence.

I still think it’s a long shot, but if he does earn a roster spot, they’ll design a few plays to utilize his running and passing skills.

I suspect Meyer knew enough about this Tebow guy to know whether or not he's making the team before the offer was extended. Do you think Jacksonville wants to sell all those jerseys and then pull the rug, sorry fans, enjoy your jersey, but we're gonna be the ones to officially end Tebow's NFL dream. lol... no.

If he makes it, he’ll have to earn it. They’re not just giving him a roster spot to sell some jerseys and not hurt Tim’s feelings.

I have to admit, having a TE who can function as 3rd string QB in a pinch definitely has unique value. And so far he seems to have good hands. Blocking is half technique and half effort and no one is going to put in more effort. This just might work. Practice squad is probably worse case scenario.

I just don't think there's any way Meyer would allow for this very public "tryout" to become a distraction right before the season starts by pissing off half the fan base and ratcheting up pressure on that Clemson chick. My bet is if there was any question about Tim's ability to pick up a TE role, there would have been a quiet private workout beforehand, and there might have been. I think getting this far in the process means that they will find a place for Tim, even if just the last man on the roster.

That should’ve been the case in Philly. To be clear, I’ve never had Tebow blinders and realized all along that he had definite NFL compatibility issues. So I always felt like if a guy like Chip Kelly—who as a college coach had watched Tim win the Heisman over his own guy—couldn’t make it work, then no one could. But seeing now that CK is little more than a fat homosexual with poor work ethic, there may be a chance after all.

My position has always been that a 3rd string guy may as well be a punter. Find a SB winning team that had to go to their 3rd string QB. Your season’s toast anyway if it comes to that, so having a utilitarian guy, who could also bring a few dynamic plays at times, in that role doesn’t seem like it would be that big a deal.

I am pretty sure that’s why Belichick never carried more than 2 QB’s. He figured you are wasting a spot and money. He probably also figured if it came to it he would just play Edleman and call the season a rebuilding year.

But Tim is actually plenty good enough for a backup spot but through no fault of his own creates an immediate QB controversy so no one would be willing to deal with the headache. But this TE thing might just be the ticket. We can have Tebow time without much drama.

Why does he have to be gay?

Tim Tebow has the top selling jersey in the NFL, one week after signing his contract with Jacksonville. However this is not about a popular football player or Heisman Trophy winner.
———-
This is about millions and millions of American parents and children. Starving for a role model, a leader, a man of faith, decency and moral fiber.
______

Tim Tebow surely has a journey beyond playing back up TE for the Jacksonville Jaguars (Sen Tebow? Gov Tebow? President Tebow?) But his popularity should send a message to all professional sports leagues.
————
Millions of fans are tired of the Colin Kaepernicks Lebron James and Megan Rapinoes of the world. Millions of Americans reject their uninformed messages of anger, hate, division and Anti-American rhetoric
————
And THAT is WHY millions of Americans are buying the jersey of man trying to become a back up TE for the Jacksonville Jaguars. We want decency restored and we want our sports back.

I think there’s a less than 50% chance that Tebow sticks with the Jags or that Meyer lasts more than 3.5 seasons.

I think there’s a more than 50% chance that Meyers comes to regret leaving the college game and mutually reconsiders with Florida if Mullen gets the boot, the latter being 100% inevitable.

Man, talk about jilted lovers praying her ex comes back... even decades later.

There is a good chance Creyer doesnt last in the NFL. Losing makes his esophagus act up and he will be losing A LOT.

There is some chance he returns to college hoping to win something as he rides into the sunset. It 100% wont be UF are any other full rebuild school with a roster in the Kentucky zone especially one that wont commit even 1/10th of the funds needed to compete. That is to say to allow football to keep MOST of the money it produces.

If Creyer comes back to college, it will be to Bammer, LSU, maybe even ND, but 0% to UF.

IMO it is 100% that Mullen lasts no more than October 31, 2022, but we are also in that zone that the next terminally stupid thing he does could result in getting fired. It would surprise me if he opens his big mouth once too often this year or just elects to take vacation instead of prepping for a game and gets canned this year.

He appears to be absolutely mailing it in with respect to recruiting. Im sure the admin sees that.

Regardless, our next coach will be hired before Creyer leaves Jax. We wont he attractive to any decent coach. Our hest option is to land some Ryan Day-like up and comer.

And? They seem to be content. 9-3 or 10-2 seems to be the new standard. Heck he may be here for 10 more years.
yeah... the first clue is that they haven't given him a pay raise or extension in the first 3 years.

And they laughed and said see what you can get when he threatened to run to the NFL.
