I don't agree with the move at all, but let's not get nuts here.

The only thing consistent among those three names is that we're overspending for no apparent reason. Ten years tp build a football facility, but have issued multiple extensions and doled out millions in payroll during that span. That, I can agree.

When Iggles fan is right, he is right. We like to give extensions to bad coaches like the Iggles like to give extensions to red headed schitty quarterbacks.

I thought this would happen. It should not have, but I thought it would as Stricklin does not have the character to make the hard decisions.

Just like those he hires. A good manager/leader hires those who challenge them, a poor manager hires people that just agree with him and are similar to them.

If you want to quickly see how much championships are valued (beyond giving a coach $1.5 MM extra for not winning one), take a look at these incentives [EDIT - FROM THE 2018 CONTRACT]:

Florida Releases Details on Dan Mullen’s Contract - ESPN 98.1 FM - 850 AM WRUF

Incentives:
  • $400,000 – College Football Playoff Champion
  • $300,000 – College Football Playoff Runner-Up
  • $250,000 – College Football Playoff Semi-Finalist
  • $200,000 – Participation in an Access/Big 6 Bowl Game
  • $200,000 – Win SEC Championship
  • $100,000 – Participate in Bowl Game
  • $100,000 – Reach SEC Championship Game
  • $100,000 – Finish in the AP Top 10
  • $100,000 – Academic Performance
  • $75,000 – Named AP National Coach of the Year
  • $50,000 – Named SEC Coach of the Year
Getting to be one of the top 16 teams in the country earns the same $ as actually winning the SEC Championship! And 50% of winning the national title. This will get no news, but deserves absolute mocking and grilling the next time Strickley is in front of a mic. No one in the UAA or school admin understands economics. This is more lunacy than the raise and extension.

Edit 2 - It turns out he was extended because he met these lofty performance expectations of making bowl games.

This was the 2018 contract not the extension... might want to look at the date of the article.

From what I’ve seen, the buyout is still $12M. If that’s the case, there’s nothing to see here other than an annual raise. Can still show him the door for the same amount as his initial contract.

At least if we buy him out we aren't paying three coaches' buyouts at once. Aren't we through paying old yeller. (old yeller could apply to both ex's, the screamer and the guy who needs his teeth cleaned...or better yet pulled).

FFS, these idiots running the show NEVER learn! This fcvktard did absolutely NOTHING to warrant a raise! He did several things to warrant being fired or at a minimum, disciplined, yet they bump him up to being the 5th highest paid coach in the country??? Stricklin is a spineless idiot. What a clusterfcvk.

I can't find any error in this line of thought!

First of all, a 1.6 million dollar raise for a coach with 4 losses and a show cause violation is most definitely something to see. But I could easily be mistaken, but wasn't his initial buyout 12 Mil so was getting less and less each year until this pussified extension?

When I saw the all too real news earlier today, my "give a ****" committed suicide in self defense. I am officially in permanent "casual observer" mode until the impossible (Mullen wins something of actual importance) occurs, or I finally roll over and f'ing croak. FTS, N&F.

That's correct, it was $6 million until this extension. According to the reporting wording of his initial deal.

Everything I read says the buyout was $12M prior to the extension and it’s still $12M now. Only way it could be less is if there’s less than 2 years left on the contract. If that’s the case, doesn’t cost us anymore to dump him after this season pre or post extension. Just trying to find a silver lining here. No idea how to justify the salary bump.
