Simple very Southern standard weekend lake cuisine. Pulled pork from the Green Egg, wife's baked beans and cole slaw with a touch of sriracha sauce. IMG_2164.JPG

Any lake is usually a good place, except maybe “Fire Lake” (you only go there if you’re afraid to cut the cake!). Despite the name, we enjoy our time spent up at Lake Seminole. Something about good food, family, and getting together by the water.

It was the kids birthday weekend, so being the occasionally over indulgent parents we are we agreed to home made pizza. At Chez GBM, this means making four different types……(with crusts made from scratch)

Led off with a four cheese (mozzarella, fontina, Romano, and parm) white pizza with gulf shrimp and mushrooms. Drizzled white truffle oil over it right after it came out of the oven.

#2 was again the same white pizza, only this time topped with rotisserie chicken, red onions, and thinly sliced fresh basil. Same white truffle oil treatment as above.

#3 was what my daughter calls “swine is fine.” Classic red pizza and mozzarella with bacon, Italian sausage, diced ham, and sliced Genoa salami. (FWIW this was my favorite; #2 was everyone else’s. )

#4 was classic red with mozzarella, Italian sausage, bacon, green pepper, mushrooms, and red onions. Crowd was getting full by now and only son and I had slices.

Mrs G made a Lebanese salad (Fatoush) which surprisingly went great with the pizzas. (Especially for those of us who added a few too many red pepper flakes.)

Dessert was home made blueberry pie (ala mode by request).

Not gonna lie; Mrs G and I are pretty beat. 364 days to rest up…..
I have a pizza plate for my Egg but haven't made one from scratch with it. After viewing your creations THAT is going to change!

Little impromptu camping weekend. This was Father’s Day lunch/dinner on the way out of Graegle, CA. BTW, if you’ve never been to Graegle, it’s a must.

Wife had a Shrimp Po’ Boy. I had seafood tacos. All was amazing and/but I didn’t cook any of it.

Yum! I love gumbo but haven’t made it in years. Our local cajun restaurant is good at it so it’s too easy to get takeout. You inspired me tonight. My family likes my version of jambalaya better though. Tonight I cleaned out the fridge/freezer to make it. Shrimp, ham, sausage, rotisserie chicken, fish, corn on the cob, peas, carrots and a can of rotel tomatoes added to a family sized box of Zatarans Jambalaya mix.
