That’s where I see it completely opposite. He doesn’t get to hire a new DC. This wasn’t a candidate that just didn’t work out. If you knowingly bring in someone despised by the entire fan base, and then keep them this long, you have to go down with that ship. I do agree with chferg that we have to be very careful and how we handle any coaching change from here. But I am a hard pass on bringing in a new DC at this point(like after this season).

Between learning and adjusting to a whole new scheme, and bringing in the personnel to run it, we’re basically looking at 2 to 3 years to see if he got that choice right. I’d be OK if it had been someone like Strong that just didn’t work out. Not TG.

Exactly, after year one, maybe even year two... that would be ok. Last year showed the same problems we saw in year one and year two. This is year 4, we are who we are. Mullen is who he has been for over a decade.

Glad I checked in over here. Nice thread and lots of good perspectives on Mullen and staff I’ve never heard before.

Well, a pretty good argument can be made that the direct cause of the reoccurring theme here (and a lot of other places not named swampgas) you are crying about is that 3 game loss Mullen orchestrated to end last season along with the lazy recruiting since. Another argument can be made that the reoccurring theme of yours, to cry about the discussion of the current going ons of the Florida Gator football program (aka...lazy recruiting and 3 game loss to end last season), is also directly caused by Mullen dropping 3 games to end last season and following that up with some lazy recruiting.

I assume this, discussions about the current going ons of the Florida Gator football program and you crying about people here discussing it, will continue until such time as Mullen orchestrates some positive news by winning some games and getting some quality recruits.

I think I will wander over to the Caeleb Dressel thread and see how Mullen is faring over there.

I have it on a pretty good source that Stiner was basically all about his own stats. Basically all but told my source that he was going to get his 10-12 tackles and 2-3 pass break ups for the year, regardless of whether it was good for the team or not. The epitome of selfishness.

Stiner was the king of running across the formation and getting half a tackle by barely touching a guy that someone else knocked off balance. Or putting a hand on a dude that someone else was putting a shoulder into.

Reminds me of my oldest son when he was about 8 playing tackle football for the first time. On defense he would just stand in place after the ball was snapped until the runner got tackled……then he would run over and jump on the pile. After the game he would tell me how many tackles he had.

You will probably have better luck there than in the recruiting thread. Aint nothing going on in there as far as Mullen goes. Nothing.

For sure, Gator football is highly favored to win nothing this year.

Can someone tell me how in the world any of those horrendous jacka$$ players in the secondary last season that are no longer around, had anything to gain by being selfish and only playing for themselves. None of them were good enough to do anything on their own. They needed whatever help might be lucky enough to come their way
