It’s been 6 weeks since right leg was done. He goes tomorrow for x-rays in the morning. If it’s good to go, then they’ll keep him and do the left leg. Think it’s going to be good to go. He’s been getting around pretty good.

that's a good update NV... its good to hear good dog news.

Put down my girl on Wednesday, she made it to 15. She was the first purchase when starting my career at my current company. House has been too quiet the last couple of days.

Haven’t been on much so just seeing this. My condolences to you and the family, Douglas. That’s tough.

I used to have a Springer. She was a great dog and fine retriever. She also helped raise our kids!
Our Spaniel mix. Incredible dog. Loves me too, but don’t let the pic fool you. He’s obsessed with my wife, so this is a rarity. Even sleeps in her spot after she gets up.

I could see that. He’s nine, and we got him last year, so he’s very mellow. But you see those protective traits even at this age and in the short time he’s known us. We lost our two dogs last year, and then my wife lost her brother over the summer. So getting him in August was so great for her emotionally and he almost seems to know it. He’s been a near perfect addition for us.

Amazing how one’s definition of a successful day can change according to circumstances. Now a successful day is one where the puppy falls asleep while playing with a chew toy and turns it into a pillow.

So this thread is the absolute worst. I had noticed this when it first came out but I just had a long drive back from Savannah so I was perusing the thread. Starting with NV’s posts, I found myself in a bout of extreme melancholy.

I’m sorry that any of you have had to deal with the loss of your beloved family members.

Mine are still relatively young at nine and three years old, but I have no idea how I will even begin to deal with them when they pass. Dogs are so much better than people and we are not graced with enough time with them.

These are just a couple pictures of them out of the more than thousand photos I have of them.

They are both knuckleheads.

@GatorJ

The problem with this thread is that every time I see it bumped, I assume the worst for someone and almost don't click it. In some respects, it perfectly captures the essence of having pets. It's great having it and to see all the pics of the animals that are close to everyone here, but you're also aware of the inevitabilities.

Great dogs, btw.

And I'm adding you to my list of paver-envy.:lol:

We used to “import” it in from FL on our visits because they didn’t sell it in KY until a few years ago.
That’s weird. When I used to live in NYC, my sister & BIL lived in Connecticut and they could get it there. That was in the 90s.

no, they don’t sell it out west.
