Harry Chapin was one of the best songwriters ever.
We were deprived of his talent way too early.

Saw him in concert once and I watched him own a room full of people for two hours.

As a Dad who traveled over 40 weeks a year when my kids were young - still cannot watch that Chapin video.

I was "lucky" enough to have put myself in a position where when my sons turned 14 and 12 (23 and 21 now), I backed wayyyyy off work so I could focus a lot more time on them (and my daughter, 19 now, but it was teenage boys that I thought were important to have me around). Greatest decision I ever made. Cost me millions of dollars (because Obama loved war during those years), but wouldn't trade that for the relationship I have with my kids today. In Gainesville now with them.

I grew up with my dad making me listen to Chapin and Cat Stevens, and I learned their lessons. My relationship with my dad was the Cat Stevens song, I vowed not to be the dad in the Chapin song.

PS Fukkin kids! ;)

Don’t have time to post the video but have always like Jimmy Buffets “God’s own drunk” if you can find it.

and Jimmy Buffett’s “He went to Paris.”

Speaking of DAC -

Well, I was drunk the day my mom got out of prison

And I went to pick her up in the rain
But before I could get to the station in my pickup truck

She got run ned over by a damned old train

“Classic Country Drive” on Spotify is a good playlist

Eric Church - Some of it

Beer don't keep, love's not cheap
And trucks don't wreck themselves
Mama ain't a shrink, daddy ain't a bank
And God ain't wishin' well
Money ain't rich, everybody sins
And nobody wins in a fight
And sometimes wrong gets right
Some of it you learn the hard way
Some of it you read on a page
Some of it comes from heartbreak
Most of it comes with age
And none of it ever comes easy
A bunch of it you maybe can't use
I know I don't probably know what I think I do
But there's somethin' to
Some of it
Girls like to laugh, tears don't last
And scared's what praying's for
If it's close, swing the bat
Everybody's gotta pass
And love's worth living for
When you dance, hold her close
'Till the breaks go for broke
Be the first to reach for her hand
No you don't get to do some things again
Some of it you learn the hard way
Some of it you read on a page
Some of it comes from heartbreak
Most of it comes with age
And none of it ever comes easy
A bunch of it you maybe can't use
I know I don't prob'ly know what I think I do
But there's somethin' to
Some of it
When you can't take it slow
'Cause time sure won't
The rhythm makes you a man
Is being true to her 'til your glass runs out of sand
Some of it you learn the hard way
Some of it you read on a page
Some of it comes from heartbreak
Most of it comes with age
And none of it ever comes easy
A bunch of it you maybe can't use
I know I don't prob'ly know what I think I do
But there's somethin' to
Some of it
Some of it
