Without him running roughshod over Bear Bryant and Alabama in Alabama, Paul Bryant might not have been such a mighty "Bear" and Alabama may never have become Bama. RIP Sam.

Finebaum stated yesterday that this story that we’ve all heard is not true but that it has grown to the point where it can never be displaced.

Paul said that Bryant had already signed two black players for the following season before they played USC but that the story is so compelling that it is now accepted as valid history.

I don’t know what the truth is, all I know is that Bam was a helluva player.

The viewers watching the telecast of that game and their impression of it had the long lasting effect. It also made Bama fans much more receptive to their new recruits.

Bama's history has never been steeped in "facts".

Alabama myths notwithstanding, Cunningham was the first player I remember vaulting over defenses to get into the endzone. It was exciting to watch when you'd never seen anyone do it before.

An indisputable statement BNAG8R.

I will place this bogus Bam Cunningham denial on the pile with all those BS national championships

Bammers see a ring in the bathtub and count it as another Championship.
