I was so convinced we were getting our clocks cleaned that I stopped watching for a quarter and painted a bathroom. That’s even worse than turning to a Pink documentary. My Gator card is temporarily suspended.

You aren’t going to win many ballgames with four-of-12 on third down, but we managed to save face and perhaps even louder noise for Mullen, who now owns the quarterback controversy. But who cares? We lost to Bama once again.

There is no such thing as a moral victory he admits, and yet yet another on of the Loser Company claims...a moral victory.

Anyone know why they didn’t onside kick?

3:10 left, 2 timeouts. If Bama gets two first downs. It’s game over. What would it matter if they got the ball at midfield?
The thinking is you kick deep, hold them to 3 and out, then with an average punt/return you have about 30-40 yards to go to get into FG range (if you have a kicker). Vs if you don't recover onside (statistically highly likely), and then a 3 and out punt could easily pin you inside the 10, in which case you now you have 60+ yards to go before you get into any type of FG range (but again, you'd need a kicker for this). 'Bama's actual punt of 34 yards pretty much substantiates the logic. Lots of F-ups all over the field today, but I don't think this was one of them (just really should have never gotten to the point where this was a decision that had to be made...)

There is no such thing as a damn moral victory. Nearly every one of you called Saban the absolute best coach in the game and Alabama the best team in the nation…..and predicted a crushing defeat.

You got 2 out of 3 right. He is and they are…..but we fought like hell and we are better than you thought. In fact many will believe that we would have won with AR. So just how good do you really believe we are? With Mullen….with Grantham….we are suddenly the best team in the country once we put AR out there? There are millions of posts here that say we can’t win or recruit. Yet we recruited AR and had he played we would have beat the best team in country.

We battled hard and came up short to the better team against the better coach. But we got better I think. We have the best young QB in the country coming back next week. EJ settled down considerably and the defense stepped up.

Lots to look forward to but many are blowing a gasket because EJ didn’t convert a 1st and 76 with 4 seconds left against a team you predicted would crush us.
Jacksonville State did it.

It’s a double-loss if you subscribe to the thinking that Mullen is a one-way ticket to nowhere. A blowout would have looked better for his exit interview. Instead he appeases the know-nothings in Tigert by clawing back into a mistake-fest with Bama.

There are a lot of what if's in this game. What if...

-we didn't have so many penalties on defense
-AR started or at least played as much as last week
-Pierce (and AR) were in on the 2 pt conversion
-there was no missed extra point
-we didn't waste so many timeouts

There are likely more. At the end of the game Danielson said we can compete with any team. That's nice, but I wish we would actually beat a top team every now and then. A friend who is a Bama alum texted me to say UF was a great team. My response was that we are a good team and the head coach is perfectly content with that.

I hear ya but who thought the game would be 2 points?
I understand your point, and no, I expected to lose by over 3 TDs. Unfortunately, I still believe that DM is largely responsible for the fact that we are in a place where "only" losing by two to a vastly overrated bammer squad, at home, is an accomplishment of some sort. To me, this just feels like more of the same old "close but no cigar" bullschytt that DM is infamous for. I know the kids played hard and the fans were stout and I applaud both on those counts. But there is no lasting or substantive difference between a "good loss" and a "bad loss." We had a chance to sneak up on a superior but sloppy opponent and we didn't get it done. End of story.

I’m surprised to not see more comments about the offensive line. EJ had all the time in the world, even if he stands beside Franks in terms of maddening indecisiveness. And over 200 yards running the ball. We haven’t done that against Bama in a long time.

OL looked the best it has since probably '08 and that isnt an exaggeration. They controlled the game.

Donk needs to sober up......

I predicted a close loss and the resulting Danny boy claiming a moral victory. I was right but take no satisfaction in the result.... Close only counts in Horse-shoes and Hand Grenades!

It was a entertaining game from a casual fans point of view but from the Gator Fans view, it sucks to lose to anyone especially Trailer Trash Bama!

Go Gators!!!!!

CDM ran this team & this game wrong. AR most likely could have played and would have been worth 10 more points.
These poor players, Mullen sacrificed their good effort. Fine running game - will we still lead the nation.? Can we build off of this.? Or will Mullen keep muddling.? DM threw away a marquee game. GC downers were horridly wrong and deserted these Gators, but these Gator players did not desert UF.
Go Gators.!

Agreed…..a loss is a loss. Period. It was a great game….but it’s still a loss. Until we beat Bama and Saban they are better than us. Whether we get crushed by all these predicted scores or play them to the final snap…..you have to win or they are better.

Good post Rog. But as Donk always says DM is who he always has been. Not likely to change as evident with his stubbornness with AR.
