I fully support your lgbtquiaxyzetc desk transitioning to whatever it identifies as today. What your desk does in the privacy of your bedroom is none of my business.

That said, I have no earthly idea why I’m being drawn into this seismic Cablegate scandal by the “CD & Seedy Show”.

I’m substantially poorer, significantly funnier, somewhat better looking, and far better endowed than @bradgator2 so there’s no rational reason why anybody would confuse us.

And yet here we are.

Again.

Alex.

Whoops, I’m so slow realizing my mistake that you could have timed me with a sundial. For some strange reason I thought you were the one doing the post-by-post updates to the thread. Mea culpa.

Cell tower in Lumpkin...

29126

*Son went to school just south of there in Cuthbert. It is quite “rustic” in that neck of the woods!

@cover2 - Speaking of Lumpkin, have you been to the little Grand Canyon? I’m taking the kids to Tally next week and considering checking this out if we have time. Had no idea something this spectacular was there.

I’ve been there a couple of times with groups of school kids. The geology is pretty cool, particularly in this part of the country. One of the school groups was my son’s class when he was in middle school. There is a walking trail that all the boys turned into a cross country course, seeing who could get through the fastest. I’m not sure many of them really appreciated the strata of the erosion patterns :)

It has been pretty hot these last couple of weeks, so be sure to take plenty of water. If it hasn’t rained much before you get there, it can be pretty dusty. I remember my son and his classmates all having an orange cast from the clay dust they kicked up. It’ll be a nice stop.

One last bit of humor…on the other school trip I was on, another coach and I took about 30 middle school boys. I drove the bus and about 10-15 miles below Lumpkin, everybody suddenly had to use the bathroom. Some were holding themselves, others dancing around in the aisle. All we could do at that point was pull over on the side of Hwy 27 and hit the woods! I still recall the few cars that passed by honking their horns and some yelling out of their windows at us. Mistake number one was bringing a cooler full of Gatorade and not monitoring the boys!

It’s a 10 hour drive for us which would put us in the area around 3:00. Is it something that we could spend an hour around the rim or should we plan another trip when we can spend 1/2 a day? Certainly wouldn’t have time to hike down but I’d love to see it.

Bathrooms are few and far between in Lumpkin! There was an old country store on 27 but it’s been closed now for several years.

To be honest, unless you want to listen to the park ranger give a historical oratory (if they still do that), you can probably see all you want to in an hour. If you or the kids are budding geologists, you should come back.

I heard it was only $5 to get in. Worth an hour visit. But do they have bathrooms?

For men, all of the outdoors is a bathroom :) I know there are restrooms where you enter, but I really can’t remember whether there are any along the trail. Heck, just take everybody a change of clothes.

I DO NOT want to know how you might have knowledge of @bradgator2's anatomy so please, for the sake of everyone, don't reveal that information... TIA...

It was pouring down rain as we went through the Lumpkin area and had to pass on the park. However we did make it to Marianna Caverns.

It wasn’t too bad, just left us feeling a little green.
When the missus was teaching elementary school, she and a couple other teachers took their classes on a field trip to the caverns. It was great until they cut the lights out. The kids went ape you-know-what and they had to get them out in a hurry! First and last field trip to Marianna.

Do you think Cooter is accepting phone calls wherever he is right now?

We waited 6 months for our original framer to come back and help remove a few walls for a new master bath remodel upstairs. The roofline is funky and we were looking for help. Tired of waiting so Seedy took down the non-load bearing walls himself. He will need to add some additional supports to the ceiling so we can bust into a wall cavity and add a tub. We are expanding into the hallway too to add two large vanities.

Anyone have recommendations with floor heating systems for tiled flooring? You people in FL may not understand why we want to heat our floors.

It’s a complicated space and doesn’t photograph well.

I'll say its complicated, just walking around sideways like that must be very confusing.

Instead of taking down the walls we just laid the room on it’s side. Easy peasy.
(why does it post portrait photos sideways in this forum?)
