Does our band have any signature songs anymore?

No more Gator Bait. No more Jaws. No more Louie Louie. The only thing I hear the band playing consistently during games now is...I don't know what it is. It goes on for most of the game and is basically soulless and tuneless. They seem to usually start it up when we pick up our first first down. You know it, you've heard it. What the hell is it? Can we have a song again that we don't save for the end of the third quarter?

I stayed pissed off for a long time when we quit playing On Broadway. Little did I know that eventually all the tunes and ditties that were Gator trademarks would either be dropped or somehow fade away. I will never get over Fuchs and the wokies spearheading the removal of Gatorbait. The same people that made this decision probably buy Ken dolls for their male children at Christmas.

They played Jaws several times during the season opener vs fau. But yeah, not sure when or why Broadway or the William Tell Overture was dropped. Been away too long.

I wonder whether this is the choice of the band director rather than an edict from the administration. Generally, band directors select the music. If a band director with no knowledge or interest in Gator traditions was hired this could be the result.

Broadway was the song I remember hearing as the signature sound. The other one is the 'Go Gators get up and go' one. Getting rid of gatorbait is just dumb.

This wasn't band music, it was PA system music...but haven't heard this Ozzy intro in a long time either...

Gator Band 1976

And the band used to play the state song. When I was a student "Old Folks at Home" could be heard playing from the chimes at Century Tower as you walked across campus on a hot morning.

Used to play "Are you from Dixie?" and the band was known as the Biggest Boom in Dixie. And when the band actually played "Dixie" once a game, you stood up.

pretty soon there wont be any band, just tones and beats piped in through the loud speakers over some ubonic style lyrics from whichever ghetto rapper is popular at the time.

The first time I remember hearing that was during the touchdown review against tennessee in 2005. It helps that their TD was overturned and they ended up fumbling a few plays later, but from then on I liked it.

Used to love Broadway. Did they really kill Suwannee? I thought I heard it a few times recently.
