One of my favorites, and you are lucky to hear it once in the pregame....

I can assure you that Thunderstruck has been played this year…though I can guarantee it’s been right before the first kickoff like in the last few years.

They’ve replaced Suwannee with “You are my Sunshine” because of course they did.

Jaws is still present.

Music on the PA overpowers a lot of stuff.

I am sitting behind the band at LSU so I’ll see up close what’s going on. Also, if we win, I’ll be the dude screaming “Play Neck”. Because F LSU.

Have you ever sat directly behind the band before? We did for one game 4-5 years ago. You can't hear the band at all! It's really weird. Because you are behind them, you literally do not hear ANYTHING! It's like they are a silent mime band. For the UT game a few weeks ago, we were next to their band, could barely hear our band because of it.

lol okay you must've has those faulty Army earplugs and suffered hearing loss. I think there's a class action suit you can still get in on, I'll fwd you the email. ;)

I've sat there before and no way is the band "literally silent" when you're behind them. But yes there is a remarkable difference between being "sheltered" from the noise behind them vs. being in front of them with the horns blasting at you.

I never went to BHG before my first game as a student, and remember being annoyed to realize that when that the band was facing the alumni side (which they did for most of their halftime performance), it was much harder to hear them. Never noticed that in high school because I was in the locker room during the halftime show. :proud:

I'm laughing about my hearing, but I'm talking about being centered two rows behind the tubas... you do not hear them AT ALL. It's very weird, almost disturbing

Are you talking about You Can Call Me Al?

You can call me Al is a basketball song that the band started playing at football games not that long ago so I don’t think it qualifies as a signature song for football.
I hope Fuchs face doesn’t cancel it too.

Yeah they started playing that song at basketball games first, but it qualifies as a signature Gator game song because the title is, "You Can Call Me Al." As in Albert?

I think the smaller version of the band that plays at hoops games worked that song out first, and then the rest of the band learned it. I'm no musician but it seems like it's probably not an easy tune to play. Whole lot of notes in it!

I like the opening line of the lyrics, sung from the perspective of a middle-aged man. It's a damn good question.

A man walks down the street, he says,
"Why am I soft in the middle, now?
Why am I soft in the middle?
The rest of my life is so hard." :(

I stayed pissed off for a long time when we quit playing On Broadway. Little did I know that eventually all the tunes and ditties that were Gator trademarks would either be dropped or somehow fade away. I will never get over Fuchs and the wokies spearheading the removal of Gatorbait. The same people that made this decision probably buy Ken dolls for their male children at Christmas.

I don’t think so C2. Ken dolls are the embodiment of toxic masculinity. My guess is they buy them neutered freak dolls with multi colored hair name They/Their.

I think the Call Me Al started at basketball games back when Al Horford was on the team. It was a song for him that stuck.
