Does our band have any signature songs anymore?

I’m not aware, clue me in.
In the famous Seinfeld “Festivus” episode, Frank Costanza (pictured in my response) was explaining how he came to develop Festivus (an alternate celebration of Christmas for the eternally miserable) and part of the inspiration came to him on Christmas Eve (I think) when he was out shopping for a doll…for his son!

When you dared insinuate that a doll given to a male child would be somehow representative of the current trans- lgbtq and sometimes y movement, I could only imagine Frank Costanza’s rage!

:)

I guess you’d have to be a Seinfeld fan to get it. Sorry, I can’t help myself sometimes.

It’s probably gonna take some naked whores dancing on the sideline to get me back to that stadium again let alone the classic band songs.

I was incredibly spoiled to come of age during the Spurrier era, when our coach actually had a deep connection to UF and the tradition and by God, we were all steeped in it. It feels like it has been in slow decline since he left, but feels like it kicked into overdrive with the the reign of Wokester in Chief Fuchs. When somebody discovers the color combination of orange and blue is actually a secret racist dog-whistle, it'll all be over for good.

The safe non-woke route would be to incorporate some Manilow, ABBA, Air Supply and Celine.
essentially an all star elevator HOF playlist

Gator Band 1976

And the band used to play the state song. When I was a student "Old Folks at Home" could be heard playing from the chimes at Century Tower as you walked across campus on a hot morning.

Had to sing old folks at home during dinner when a pledge.

I think the Call Me Al started at basketball games back when Al Horford was on the team. It was a song for him that stuck.

They started playing it at basketball games shortly after the song was released in the mid-eighties.
It included the entire “more piccolo” component in the mid-nineties as a tribute to the “more cowbell “ skit on SNL.
This should give you an idea of how long the band played the song for basketball before football was included.

But the Chinese cheer for Godzilla.
The Japanese do now too. Diversity initiatives have feminized Godzilla. He no longer smashes Japanese cities into burning piles of rubble causing millions to flee in panic. He (they, them, theirs) now cheerfully follows community guidelines, works at a non-profit and volunteers at Habitat.org.

The Vandy game was the first I attended(with my grandson) since the FSU game in 2019. I was very puzzled they didn't play Hey Baby.
