Muschamp was at least a swing for the fences,

and you can make the argument that Butters was too... but with Mullen you knew at best it was a solid double.
Bunt single. Only slightly better than striking out.

I would have just accepted the strike and used a pinch hitter like Jujuan Seider as acting HC while doing a longer search. It has worked before for teams.

Hiring shtt like Mullinz just ensures our Lost Decade is now Lost Decades.

The management accepts mediocrity, it looks like a good number of fans are perfectly happy with that same mediocrity.
Truth? No one else.

That babbling fuchsing idiot Loyal? He isnt even slightly aware of reality on any subject. He doesnt count. He is more busy preparing for his militia revolution. Probably doesnt even watch football.

Deep down Truth, despite his annual 12-0 predictions and his weekly excusathon, knows. Yes, he knows.

I was actually quite surprised how vocal and overwhelming the fire Mullinz now Bulls were at the UK game BEFORE THE LOSS.
We paid top steak house prices for a McDonald's big mac (I know a lot of dudes on here love Mullen's special sauce), but it's still a schitty burger.

This what I hold on to, and part of my post apathetic attitude... We hired a dude that had never coached before, ok. We hired a coach with limited head coaching experience, ok. We hire a dude with a decade of experience with full knowledge of who he was an expected different results?

There in lies my apathy... The management is not afraid to be just ok... Muschamp was at least a swing for the fences, and you can make the argument that Butters was too... but with Mullen you knew at best it was a solid double. Solid doubles are great at places like Mississippi State even though they were even rumored to want to break him off. But a solid double is garbage here.

The management accepts mediocrity, it looks like a good number of fans are perfectly happy with that same mediocrity. Just look at the number of Mullen defenders even this offseason on this board. How many people's first arguments are he is better than the last two, or well at least he wasn't Frost or Chip. Just wait until next year when he has his guys. Which are garbage and loser arguments. Heard enough of that mentality in the 80s.

We paid top steak house prices for a McDonald's big mac (I know a lot of dudes on here love Mullen's special sauce), but it's still a schitty burger.

Excellent post. As I said, I definitely get the apathy with the current state. I’m a problem solver and like to think in terms of what is about to change that might improve matters. I saw it in 2002 because of the class coming in. I saw it in 2005. There was even a glimmer throughout much of 2011. As much as I did see positives in that mid-2015 stretch with Grier, that also diminished fairly quickly. I was definitely on board with Mullen early on, because that’s what I do. But you could see cracks because of the recruiting issues in that first class. I still struggle to put my finger on one particular area where we’ll change our trajectory going forward. I’ll give him this much, he isn’t constantly changing things with coordinators to keep resetting the clock. I honestly think that will be his downfall in the end, because it shows a lack of genuine effort to be the very thing he stated in his opener press conference. The administration may be ok with it, but the boosters and Bulls are not and will not be.

I’m still frustrated because I think this was our best chance of the last 3 to take a step forward and DM didn’t embrace it.

Good Lord, look at all the losers talking about how we sucked back then so we should be used to sucking now.

Mullen sucks. It doesn't change my fandom or make me want to reimagine it. Mullen has been given a turn, did his thing and there is enough of his work to be judged.

It has nothing to do with my fandom. He sucks. Well, he doesn't suck, he just aint anything better than good and in my book that means he sucks. Especially when you factor in 7.6 million dollars. Some of you twatwaffles are fine with settling with just being good. Some of you are so scarred from the last 10 years that you think we are great again.

Well, to you two types...you suck too. I don't need to change my expectations on Saturday's to accommodate your dumbarses.

that the current custodians of the program seem to like being a scrappy top 15 and will never pay the price required of the elites.

What? We are paying 7.6 million fuggin dollars to go 8-4. Scrappy top 15 is just a pumper way of saying mediocre.

Mullen is a tactical thinker. He wouldn't know strategy if it bit him in the a$$.

Running a major football program requires strategy. Running an major elite program requires strategy, some luck (timing) and the "it" factor. Mullen has 1 of 3. (SECE sucks)

The biggest issue I have with Dullen is that he embraces, no LOVES being "not there yet". He frigging loves being "almost there" and probably views himself as the epitome of "up and comer". He's not. He's a middle of the road coach. He doesn't recruit well, he takes games off (LSU last year, KY this year etc) and can't manage a clock any better than I can manage a herd (?) of feral cats. His arrogance and cluelessness is also on display weekly.

He is a miserable judge of coaching talent, as evidenced by Grantham (although the D has been better this year)and as we continue to see, favors seniors over the best players.

Probably most aggravating is that other than the Chokelahoma game last year, I can't think of a game we really got blown out in, and our losses generally come down to a failure on D (Grantham) or bad game decisions by Mullen. It's sad that he has forced his legacy to be this sh*tty because he's made half a dozen bad in-game decisions that cost us 3-4 huge wins.

He sucks.

I don't think it's "loser mentality" to acknowledge our current reality. A certain amount of apathy probably does help at times, but I think Ox is right in his assessment that we'd all be on fire if things took off. But, Mullen is Mullen. It would be shocking to all of us if he flipped the switch and changed. I'm always hopeful, but I don't expect it.
