Smart move. He goes out with a winning record against genius Dan before he really gets things going.

I envy this. Now they have the rest of the season to do their search and interview.

If LSU is smart, which is highly debatable, they should call Aranda or Napier right up the road.

@BruceFeldmanCFB: LSU is expected to pay Ed Orgeron his entire buyout which is over $17 million to pursue a new coach. His record at LSU is 49-17 and he went 13-5 in games against Top 10 teams while coaching the Tigers.
Help me understand how this is useful to pay his entire buyout yet let him stay through the season? How the hell will they recruit?

Orgeron is gone because Arch Manning is not interested in LSU, hometown 5*.

Wow, LSU Admin is amazing compared to UF

I’d say this is a brilliant move by LSU. It is interestingly coincidental to our situation. Mullen doesn’t want to be here anymore, the situation is pretty untenable, the players are outing their coaches (Refer to Diabate’s responses in the post game presser), and AR15 running in circles on his comments toward transferring, and it’s worth mentioning the fans general disdain toward Mullen and 98% of the coaching staff.

Mullen is a disease for this program. A fungus, a parasite, a virus, etc. He hasn’t improved anything and instead kept the same mediocre results as the previous two coaching staffs. I’d be curious if the administration could pivot legally around his recruiting violations, or perhaps his terrible lapses in judgments from last year alone, if that could be enough to gather tangible data to fire him for cause.

Or, fuch it and just fire his azz and put a real desire to hire a real coach intent on taking us past mediocrity. Either way we go, kudos to LSU for being proactive and actually having a pair of balls to do what needed to be done.

F vck me....even this idiot can win 2/3 of his games against top ten teams when he has equal or better talent....meanwhile back in Gville what's Mullens record vs top 10 teams....
Mullen is 7-42 against top 25 teams and 2-28 against top 10

At UF he’s 4-7 against top 25 and 2-6 vs top 10

The question was rhetorical but now that I look at those numbers he(Mullen) couldn't even use the "talent disparity" argument even though that is his fault too...I believe his overall recruiting ranking is probably on paper around 12-14th? So if he's only 4-7 vs top 25 teams he's still under performing against similar competition

Wow...Just Wow!

All wins for Orge & LSU. Gets his entire buyout, still finishes the season, and can take his lap around the conference the rest of the year. LSU now gets a huge start on a coach.

LSU's administration don't mess around.
