This is what I've been saying since game 2. From what I've seen so far, AR has the higher ceiling and if he's making the same and/or less mistakes than the guy who's been here 4 years already, then it's time to admit the guy who's been here 4 years isn't progressing to the point he needs to be to lead an SEC team to a title contention. Play the guy with the higher ceiling and take your lumps as he learns the ropes. Manage him so he doesn't get discouraged by the mistakes.
I thought the Defense has been much improved this year and the stats seem to point to that but holy hell, how do you not adjust to stop the ONE run play that keeps gashing your Defense all day? Over, and over, and over again! Pathetic coaching!
I've been there with you for the first QB since that time as well. In fact, I tweeted "QB Competition Over" after AR's 75-yard TD pass against USF after Jones had gone 3 and out and then relied on Pierce for a short field drive for a TD on the second series.
Paragraph 2, stats point to that because we faced questionable offenses in FAU, USF, Tennessee (who flipped a switch after our game, but Pitt did to them what we did before us), Kentucky, and Vandy. There are repeatable skills I have seen from the DB's that I have liked and seen improvement, but schematically, no. The repeatable skills are the ones I outlined last week such as DB's using correct leverage, Torrence's downhill tackling (we missed him a LOT after his injury), and some press technique.
If a miracle should happen Jacksonville, would this be the first time GC had a meltdown after beating the dwags?
I know this conflicted feeling, but anyone who meltdowns because we win is soft.
