Oh I agree. The fact that Fooley brought him back after that season is truly unforgivable. All of this still stems back to the WM hiring in the first place, then his being retained after 2013. Neither are even remotely defensible, and both are the primary reasons we're where we are. Anything beyond that is strictly details.
The initial hiring of Muschamp at least made logical sense. At least when hiring Muschamp he was considered the top assistant in the country and a coach in waiting at a top 5 football program. The double extension in 2012 not even two years into his contract, and then doubling down again by retaining him after the clusterfuch of 2013. Once he lost to Vandy at Homecoming in 2013, that should have been the final draw. The coaching pool was deeper in 2013 offseason (hidsight obvious) and if we hire the right coach we are in a vastly different situation now.
The hire made sense from a mile away vantage point. Up close, when vision and ideology were discussed, Foley should've seen enough to know that it would never work. And even if it did, considering the massive overhaul it would require, there should've been a 4-6 window where he as safe. It's very similar to whoever at Michigan hired Rodriguez. Maybe today with the portal, but back then there would be no way to implement that kind of change within a few years. Then of course comes the greater question--does this even fit UF? The answer was almost unequivocally no to anyone with a brain.
Beyond that, you're correct. Any time anyone mentions Franklin, I always say he should've never been allowed to leave Gville that day. Foley even went into the locker room to congratulate him and the team. Imo, we'd have cashed in somewhere along the way with at least an SEC title had we done that, and he's still be here.
Chump actually recruited both sides well. His issue was:
1. The identity of the team was defense. There was no identity on offense at all
2. They didn’t recruit OL for 2 years. They plugged with really good transfers. But no depth was created.
3. He couldn’t recruit receivers well.
4. He thought Henry was a LB.
he did recruit Brissett and Grier. Both still in the NFL.
All of this still stems back to the WM hiring in the first place, then his being retained after 2013. Neither are even remotely defensible, and both are the primary reasons we're where we are. Anything beyond that is strictly details.

You’d think they played 25 kids on both sides of the ball…pretty awesome we used to have a single player in the top 70
It seems at this rate, there won’t be a position besides kicker that won’t be a 5 star for themThe ole "Kirby can't coach" excuse ain't going to age well. The dude has so much talent it's disgusting. Their roster next year will probably be the best roster ever accumulated (using the star rankings). Meanwhile, Dan Mullen is signing OL's ranking outside of the top 1000 w/ offers from FAU & Alabama State. smh
This week alone, UGA has added two 5-stars...and they likely end up w/ Shemar....
TALENT DOESNT MATTER!!!!Getting where we are compared to Georgia didn't happen over night. It's like anything else, first you have to be willing to admit there is a problem.
Clearly we are not committed to football like Bama, Ga, and LSU. But with a competent HC and good recruiting position coaches, we could be in that 10 to 5 range. Couple that with a stud QB and you got a shot at the SEC and playoffs. Under Cousin Eddie, we will never be close to that.I am going to say it again. As long as Dr. Fuchs is running the show, and he is, we will not recruit with the dwags and the bammers. Just ain't in his wheelhouse. If Saban were our HC and Smart out recruiting coordinator, we wouldn't recruit in the top 10 because, you know, academics. And Chinese kids don't play football or footsies for that matter.
So are 9th-15thMullinz 20 to 30 ranked classes are going to bury us.
Youre out of your freaking mind if you the academics is affecting our recruiting.I am going to say it again.
