I notice when people wish the USMC a happy birthday, they always put the number of years. Since I have only met 1 or 2 Marines who could write their name and count past 3 without removing their boots and using their toes, it makes sense.
Lots of Marines over the years have joined the Army after the Corps taught them how to read and write, stop eating crayons, and stop ****ing everything that moved. They were pretty decent Soldiers, a little rough around the edges and uncouth in social gatherings. They types you kept away female Soldiers and General Officers.
