I was traveling from Tampa to South Florida and ended up watching a good portion of the game on ESPN app sitting in a traffic jam due to a wreck on 60.

I love how this team gets up in their azz and defends every possession. They extend the shot clock and force bad shots.

I still think we will tend to be streaky offensively but I think we will end up with a solid rotation.

2 guys I really think will contribute once they settle in…..Felder and Reeves.

Also can’t say enough about Durugi’s considerable improvement.

He's trimmed down but still just too slow to play any transition defense. Always last down the court.

Its almost as if he cant move laterally at all. When they had their little run I think all but one hoop
was against Jitoboh

That's usually coaching so in this case there has to be another explanation.

I think it’s the veteran makeup of the team.
Nearly every player on the roster is a transfer facing their last opportunity to have a great season.

Good club so far in the early season . Duruji may have to play some 5 with Felder at the 4 when we need to give Colin a rest . Jotoboh won’t cut it in league play.

I agree that Jitoboh isn’t a completely viable big man but he looks way better this season so far.
He’s much more mobile and seems to have some idea what he’s doing.

I think most understand it’s way too early to have a real sense of this team. FSU has been the only test and while they are decent they are not at the level of the past few years.

What has generated some excitement is the aggressive half court defense.

Clear issues

Only 1 legit big man

Only 2 solid ballhandlers (but McKissick is showing promise)

Inconsistent outside shooting

We will soon be tested with pressure especially full court and we will see some solid zones that will test our shooting.

Uh-oh, I find myself looking forward to our next game.??
They transferred in, so now does it depend on White to develop them further.?
Will we be watching that? Or will these somewhat vets develop themselves and White tag along.?

Solid blue collar group that plays some gritty defense. Not sure there is a consistent 3 point threat on the squad but so far not a bad team to watch.

Castleton and Durugi looked improved.

How much of that is self-improvement? (Remember Tre Mann’s off season work ethic.)

The new assistant coaches?

I don’t know but I’ll take it.

The transfers are defensive grinders. That always means they are hard workers and should show additional improvement.

If I heard the announcer right I think he said White thought Felder has the potential to be the best defender he’s ever coached. That would be nice.

Great win but I always wonder how a player would not want to destroy a lesser opponent. Seems like motivation would be easy.

And if you love your father that can be way more important than playing for a big school.

I’ve been following Omar Payne at Illinois. I thought the change would be good for him and I think as a junior he will contribute this year.

In 3 games he is shooting well (7-8) but averaging less minutes per game than he did for us. He’s getting about 14 minutes per game. It appears his biggest issues are fouls. 12 in 44 total minutes. He has had a couple of monster dunks.

Hope he gets it together. The potential is there.
