The only knock on Kiffin is longevity. I don't think he goes to another college position. Unlike some of you I kinda like to think that UF is top tier and the only reason for a move would be if you have a tie to another top tier program and Kiffin doesn't. But there's always the possibility of him going back to the NFL. C'est la vie.
So he's a little brash. As long as he wins we will be eating that up. If he doesn't cut it I don't think he leaves the program in worse shape than it's been with the last three hires. So I'll take Kiffy. If I end up biting the pillow then all I can say is that after the last 10 years it's a well worn highway.

I'm not a Kiffin fan, but this is a good point. Regardless of how long his tenure is, he'll recruit better and leave the roster in better shape than the previous 3 coaches.

The same Gus who got fired from Auburn….just last year? Whose UCF teams have sucked cawk so far?
Hey we've already used up our allotment of Dwag rejects and Starksville's flunkies...it's time to dig through the Barner's rejects too

Brian Johnson, jamey Chadwell and Hugh Freeze would probably be my top3 of realistic guys.

I'm not gonna be mad if we hire kiffin just because of the excitement and pub we'd get. I'd be open to bill Obrien too pending on what kinda staff he brings in.
I think it's very likely to be the first name you listed. He checks all the boxes for Stricklin, most important being he won't embarrass him by saying no. Almost as important than that is he has the appropriate amount of melanin to make it the PC choice. On top of that Strick is completely familiar with him so knows exactly what he would be getting. On the downside is if he doesn't work out, the heat for going for an unproven and relatively cheap option will be severe.

But I've been saying all along that MuLLLLLLLen (fuk him, he's getting credit for the FSU loss) is gone and Brian Johnson has probably already been hired, and I don't see any reason to change that opinion.

How come no one has suggested Eric Bieniemy? Done a great job as O.C. with the Chiefs and Mahomes and comes from that Andy Reid coaching tree. I know he's gotten screwed over for head coaching jobs in the NFL, but he'd be a hit with recruits.

He has been brought up before for a few college jobs, including Colorado when it was open. Yes he has been brought up often and passed over in the NFL, but I think the talk is that he has his eyes on an NFL job, thus the college talk on him seems to cool each year.

You guys are going to laugh and I sure as hell aren’t starting any “source” threads, but I was just emailed.

Stricklin has a top 5 and evidently Lane Kiffin is on that list.

Take it or leave it.

I might actually boycott if they hire that scum.

I have little doubt that Stricklin and Fuchs could wreck this search, but firing one dumb fuch who can’t recruit and runs a sideways offense for another qb power dumbass isn’t happening. At least I hope not.
Never underestimate those guys.

The best predictor of future success is past success, and being a head coach is very different from being an assistant. So I tend to favor candidates who have been successful head coaches. That said, the recent successes in the SEC seem to have been assistants.

I understand your views, but so much of upper level management is an innate quality that really can't be taught, but someone who wants to learn can garner some info. I believe that is kind of how Kiffen is now. Has the football knowledge, but no clue of management. Strichnine mentioned something today that Cousin Eddie has never had and I said that for 15 years now. Attention To Detail. Lack of that trait is enough for me to disqualify almost everyone and the fact that Strichnine could not see that in Cousin Eddie at while both were at Cowbell proves that Strichnine is either stupid, blind or does not care, possibly all 3. Dumbo has that smartest guy in the room attitude but does seem to have a bit of football knowledge that Cousin Eddie never had. A guy like Pittman clearly has the management, attention to Detail quality. Just looking as some football statistical numbers can often times be misleading. Identifying the hidden qualities is difficult, but that is what I expect those getting paid the big bucks to do.

Tharber meant Brian Johnson, not Brad Johnson. Good Lord, why would anyone, but esp us, hire the Nole?
