OnlyGators.com made a couple points re: why Napier would come to UF over LSU

As we’ve heard, he’s their number three choice behind Riley and Aranda.

Second, apparently LSU’s big boosters still retain the old school influence that UF’s no longer do in determining the direction of the team. Napier wants none of that sort of meddling if he’s in charge and it’s one of the reasons he turned down Auburn and would seem to be trending to us.

They think VT is our biggest competitor for his services arm.

He is 5-0 this year in one score games.
He was 6-1 in one score games in 2020.
11-1 in tight games doesn’t last.

That averages out over time. He’s been lucky. Take the App St missed FG after he couldn't do 5-2=3 level math. Luck goes away. Would any of you be wanting this guy is he was averaging 3-4 losses, because that’s what the scores suggest he is. A 3-4 loss guy with a lot of recent luck.

Take Urban for example. Not a single one score win in his undefeated 2004 season.

Not all records are the same.

Best thing Napier has going is that he is not from my bucket of shyte list that results in me being done watching: Clawson, Campbell, and Mark Stoops.

Not the football I want to watch.

Yeah, I'm a Petty fan but damn, ENOUGH!
I agree with your sentiments above.
Plus, It sort of tramples all over "We are the boys", which is a real tradition.

I'm thinking we can rid ourselves of "back down" along with the loser demons we are excorcising from the locker room and players. One fel swoop, Demon Get out!

Then bring back GATORBAIT!

My biggest issue is that it’s quite contrived. Great traditions start themselves and are typically associated with great moments. Lawrence Wright and his gator bait chant before the noles and 95 is a prime example. We introduced “won’t back down” and proceeded to lose that game, the next, were blown out in Jack, lost at home to FSU, fired a coach, and finished 5-7. It should have never seen 2018.

Ed O is the biggest, fattest, whitest, ugliest moron any of us have ever seen, yet he can recruit like nobody's business. Have you seen Kirby Smart? He looks and sounds like a dumber version of Gomer Pyle.

When are people going to realize looks (or speech) don't have anything to do with recruiting?
This is one thing I don't understand. Who gives a shcit if he has an accent? Spurrier has a southern draw. Is he retarded?

I agree. Seems like every time I get into it, we back down and lose! I am friggin broken from the post-attentive-Meyer era. Now we get McElwain lite! Think ESpN or the SECN will start a McElwain Tree graphic? (for the record, I know McElwain personally as he recruited my son to CSU and I like him...but come on!)

The "won't back down" thing is awkward. The few games that I've been to since 2018 I make sure I use that time to take a piss. That's a tradition that probably should be scrapped.

As a proud Southerner who is fluent in Southernese… I feel it is my duty to correct a few of you. The word you are looking for when speaking about our newly found Sling Blade protege is: drawl.

Not: draw.

As for any other disparaging remarks y’all would like to make about Napier, please, be my guest. I am in total agreement that he should not be our next coach, and you have my full support.

I think some of you are afraid of dying before we will compete for another championship. You want that feeling, you miss the adrenaline rush of the Spurrier and Urbs eras. And sure, you know the football program is schit right now and you know it needs totally revamping. And there are multiple reasons for that because the landscape since our glory days has completely changed. But, you don't care, you want it now. You think you've suffered enough and you're willing to worship at the altar of Lane Kiffin to possibly get that feeling again. How can you look at yourselves in the mirror? Guys who I have admired here as posters,.. formerly voices of reason, are acting like giddy schoolgirls over the Kiff. I think the word "handsome" was even typed in a thread. I get it, Kiff's kinda a character...and been a colorful guy with an interesting story. You like to think of yourselves that way. You don't want to be "Slingblade", the kids might make fun of you.
I don't think our AD is thinking like that.
That being said, if they hire him, ...hell yeah, I'll support him. He'll be a Gator. Just don't think it's happening.
