Maybe somebody can enlighten me why Napier is an "elite recruiter" based on his history. I don't see it. Just a quick comparison between Napier and Mullen at the same stage if we hired Mullen after 4 years of being HC at Miss st. Miss state's avge class ranking the 5 years before Mullen was 42. After Mullen was hired and through his 4th year, it bumped to 28. That's a jump of 14 spots.

Louisiana had an average class ranking of 98 before Napier. After Napier through 4 years it was 83. So a bump of 15 spots. I'd say Mullen's bump in the first 4 years is more impressive, because he is competing in the top 50, not the bottom of the bottom of the barrel.

Here are the exact numbers for reference:

Miss st: Avg: 42
2004:56
2005: 28
2006: 40
2007: 34
2008: 53
After Mullen: Avg: 28
2009: 18
2010: 30
2011: 41
2012: 22

Lousiana: 98
2013: 80
2014: 107
2015: 78
2016: 106
2017: 121

After Napier: Avg: 83
2018: 105
2019: 77
2020: 82
2021: 69

By the way, can you show me one person in this thread that described Napier as an "elite" recruiter?

And you being a Kiffin nutswinger, I could also give you a lot of evidence that shows he completely sucks balls as a recruiter. I may even have evidence that he literally sucks balls, actually. :yum:

Fvvk no. Kiffin would be a disaster. I hoped that we would put an 8 figure offer to Joe Brady, but that is a pipe dream. Venables would have been my next choice. If we are going to strike out, then would try for Cristobal. He would be Zook 2.0 and get fired in 2024, but I think his connections to Florida are the strongest on the list of candidates, and probably would have the most success (recruiting).

None of the candidates that I am hearing about sound like they will win anything in the SEC. The goal at this point is fix the terrible talent deficit.

And WTF makes you think Joe Brady would be an elite recruiter and program builder here? Because of one year with Joe Burrow? He's been a disaster in Carolina and they'll likely be running him out of town on a rail. The guy will be in soup lines a year from today. That's where he belongs.

You're right. I have no evidence that Joe Brady would be an elite recruiter. None. Just going for the "splash" factor there. At least would enjoy speculating for 3 years. Everyone else sounds like a guaranteed loser.

We’re 4 days removed from them taking a step that many here insisted they’d never do because, you know, wokeness and lack of caring. As @lagator and a few of us pointed out then, it doesn’t matter what they want to do. Their hands may well have been forced. But the money coming from football boosters isn’t going to stand by and watch this implode. So now when he comes back from La(assuming this is true) and says “he wanted too much money diverted from xyz garbage sport and into football so I said no”, that too will be corrected. We knew all along who this guy was and even why he rejected Auburn and others last year. We may not give him everything, but I’d be shocked if we can’t find some agreement.
I thought it was funny that it was confirmed that we were there and he hadn't signed. But the rest was rumor and unconfirmed. Surely he wants to atleast let his team finish their season before he's employed by someone else. It's really not a hard concept.

LSU seems to be persisting with their Riley and Aranda fantasies but I’m sure our crack team will find a way to deliver Napier right into their hands.

Either LSU or UF is going to whiff big here and be in a world of trouble.
LSU provides whatever the coach needs. We provide new blue leds and slightly used carpet squares in the locker room. When we ask for more recruiting staff the add ONE more dude in year 3.

Some of you trailerdwellers or Motel 6 Gold Club folks dont see the problem, but I assure you it matters.

I'm sure Fooley and Fooley Jr heard about Napierz using volunteer staff at ULL and got excited that he coulld accept the same here.
