Now this I wouldn't like. I've based all my opinions on the notion that LR was not making a move. If it turns out to be wrong, he takes Lsu, and we never even took a shot, I will be pissed. That would make no sense.
It would certainly blow up that narrative about "no home run hires available."

We're talking about a group of people that think there are 112 genders... nothing ever makes sense!

If they hire Riley and we're stuck with sling blade, it's time to throw in the towel.

@BarrettSallee: From @dennisdoddcbs: Dave Aranda expected to remain at Baylor with contract extension to be signed in next two weeks
Dave Aranda expected to remain at Baylor with contract extension to be signed in next two weeks

Translation: Aranda has worked out his pay rasie extension if he does not get the job offer he wants during the two week coaching hiring announcement period. He is a California guy so maybe he stays at Baylor rather than jump into the SEC if he does not get the SoCal job, but he most certainly has not taken his name out by negotiating an extension to be signed at the end of the hiring period.

If ou beats osu tomorrow then beats Baylor in the b12 championship game, they're in the playoffs. I don't see him jumping ship in the middle of a playoff run.

LSU is giving him 12-13 million reasons to say fuch the playoffs this year.

At least we aren’t rushing to hire a fired, babbling special teams coach.

Are we?

A surprise is the history of UF searches other than Spurrier in 1990 and Meyer in 2005. As someone said, we were not expecting Zook in 2002, we were not expecting Muschamp in 2011, we had not even heard of McElwain in 2015 and of course we the talk was Kelly and maybe Frost in 2018.

I agree he's likely an OC next go around, just because of how ugly things finished here. But I can't see him coaching for Diaz. Safe to say, probably not Drinkwitsz either.

Need I remind you and Donkey someone hired McElwain, a power 5 school hired Zook, an SEC school hired Muschamp. It took a year in the case of all but Zook, but UF hardly has a monopoly on administrators making iffy head coaching hires.

The administration has it’s mind set against Kiffin like Mullet had his against AR.
Don’t get your hopes up. We will be wallowing in mediocracy for ten more years.
Kiffin is there for the taking but he would turn this sinking ship around and they would never permit that to happen. We have born losers in charge. It’s very sad.

Based on what exactly? One good season? Why didn't he do it at Usc? If we've learned anything over the last year it's how much one QB can change a team and season. If Kiffin wins 10+ next year without MC, I will happily stand down and admit I was wrong. But there's absolutely nothing that says he's certain to turn anything around.

Not that I have any expertise but here are my criteria for the prefect coach (not happening).

In no particular order

Must be able to assemble and manage a great set of coaches. See Urban for a great team at first.

Must have or be able to create good relationships with the various Florida high school coaches and some outside of Florida for recruiting purposes. The coaching team is a big part of this.

Must be aware of communication with the media, fans, etc. Mullen was a total idiot here. Aware means doing this correctly not just thinking.

Must support academics and personal growth of his players. Few if any coaches have done this as well as I would expect especially the personals growth factors.

Must be able to play the politics required, internally, externally, and with boosters.

Must have an absolute commitment to obeying the various rules, and his personal conduct. This might exclude some who have bad issues in their past, but perhaps they have learned.

Now getting all this is impossible.

I think we will see someone who is not even well known by this group, because many that we talk about are not coming here.

Now our AD needs to go for his lack of supervision especially in the woman's basketball program. A good AD would be in direct communication with the players and supervise (directly or indirectly) his employees.

My last straw with Mullen was two things in his last game. Not even trying to win in regulation, and not taking an time out in overtime before the two point conversion. I don't understand how anybody can care that little about their job and not resign, but that is just me.

Comment as you desire, they will be interesting.

You are the same guy that relentlessly bashed people on this board (and left for a time, in fact) for being too negative about Mullen. Now look at you!

Do we get an apology?

Just watched a video of Campbell bawling his eyes out on Senior Day. That looked to me like tears from a man saying goodbye. Several media types on Twitter are saying he’s gone. Now the question is, where to?
