I am on board for Napier, but my status doesn’t change to pumper until four things:

1. Recruiting is fixed, fully.
2. We get results on the field that isn’t stained by gimmick offense/defense, players not lined up correctly, gap assignment miscues, and playing players unmeritoriously.
3. There is a reason to change a coach on the staff and it is actually done like a CEO should.
4. Behaving like championships matter in all phases of the game.

The moaning sounds a lot like when Urbs was hired. "he can't make it in the SEC" they said, he's not an SEC caliber coach" they said. Page after page predicting Urban's demise and UF's pending doom if he was hired. Bellyache, bellyache, bellyache. Sounds worse than a bunch of old women complaining an alcoholic brother in law.

I don't remember this. What I do remember was getting the HC who just took Utah to an unbeaten season and was heading for Notre Dame until Bernie Machen got involved, and how damned important it was for the new HC to close the deal with a rising senior QB at Nease High.

Mr. French Fried Taters is NOT the second coming of Urban Meyer waking in the door. Not even ****ing close.

Urban, like Spurrier did, had an innovative offense at the time. He had also coached at what was at the time second level. Not 4th like Napier who is running the same ancient offenses that the last 3 guys tried.

You forgot to mention he also has sex with horses.

The kind of vile filth that will be spouted about Napier on announcement of this hire is going to be a pretty low point, even for us.

FWIW, if I cant get Chadwell, im definitly ok with Ole Sling Blade. Remember a few years ago when Bama was smashmouth football and vs LSU was like 6-9 in the Championship? Then Saban started to go pass heavy. Napier has only been a coach for 4 years maybe he can innovate?

Mullen was the smartest guy in the room and never needed to change. I think or at least hope, Napier is young enough to innovate.

Im staying open minded for now

Well, 4 years ago this Sunday, my wife almost made me stop the truck and get out to finish the cussing fit I had when I heard the Mullen announcement on the radio heading home from family after the holiday. Guess I may as well warn her now that it will likely repeat.

That one was deserved, because we KNEW EXACTLY what we were getting with Mullen over a very long track record. That's not the case here.

This won't be a rage fit, but more of an underwhelmed fit if Napier is announced.

Edit - don't get me wrong, I hope to be wrong and will support, but will be very meh about this hire.

Agreed. But who knows, maybe underwhelming and boring is just what we need.

I did go to UF, so math was optional. I, clearly, opted out

I hated the Mullen hiring. I don’t hate the thought of Napier being hired because there is potential. With Mullen there was no hope. I think Napier could evolve the offense to be more attacking if he needs to. If not, and he struggles, then we’ll just move on to someone else. There are no home run hires out there, no sure bets. Napier has just as good a shot as any of the names being floated.
