he’s won his conference (albeit g5)
actually he hasn't.

He has never won the conference CG. He won his division x3, and was awarded half of the conference championship last year when it was cancelled due to covid. He had already lost to the other team, Coastal Carolina.

From the Alumni Association presser that said Napier is our guy and will be announced today: AD Stricklin-
"One thing that doesn’t get talked a lot about, we have incredible alignment among our university hierarchy, from the board of trustees to Dr. (Kent) Fuchs, myself, the University Athletic Association Board, Gator Boosters Board, and you hear ... you guys probably see things from other schools where trustees are trying to get involved in the decision-making process and who’s really calling the shots. That doesn’t happen here at the University of Florida."
Bull Gators and alumni need not express opinions. But please keep sending us money.

Well he is tailor made and will fit in perfectly at UF. Results like that get banners hung, trumpets blared and parades arranged. We are the champion of celebrating a division title, but still have yet to figure out why that has translated into zero hardware, given the big ado that is made over it.

I can't wait for the contract details. I hope he hung it in the UAA's ass!

What has been leaked so far is it is a good number that leaves a lot of room for assistants and recruiting.

from goldkamp:
From what Bob and I have been told, they gave him a range of numbers on his salary and assistant pool and that kind of thing and basically put the ball in his court as to how he wanted to allocate that in terms of his salary. So the number on his contract will be interesting.

Should be in the $5-7 million range for Napier, not sure on length... but the total figure a source provided makes me think a seven-year deal is probably likely. The length is speculation on my part.

You are more sour than pure lime juice.

In the first 10 minutes, can't you even squeeze out a single drop of hope that things will get better with a new head coach?

Hope he is signed prior, especially if flying into G'ville. Would hate for him to be scared off by the homeless bums and beggars at 39th Ave. and Waldo Road, at the airport!

I’ll admit that I didn’t know much about Napier until recently. There’s some things that I definitely like about him so far. Is he the flashiest? Not by a long shot. But if he’s as detailed as they say, he may be one of the toughest, and that’s something that we’ve been missing for many years. Our teams have spent a decade getting weaker, smaller, and slower every damn year. I’d like to see us dominate our opponent’s will to play again. Can’t remember the last time that happened.

He also seems to be extremely strategic. That’s something that we’ve been missing. Every coach since 2010 (yes, including Urban’s last year) has basically been winging it on a daily basis. Urban was hopped up on Thorazine as life crashed around him. Chump had no idea what he was doing and basically spun himself into a tight little circle until he imploded. Butters was a legit retard. And Dan was a fraud who was winging it from day 1. This guy is a HUGE upgrade in my opinion just on those two factors alone.

Will he win a lot immediately? I doubt it. He’s got a ton of work to do. I’ll give him a year to see what moves he makes before I build much of a critical opinion. The second half of year 2 will tell us everything we need to know. Hopefully he’s extremely successful and we can all get back to cheering our boys on the field instead of b!tching about our coaches again. The world's a much better place when that happens.
