Lincoln Riley blows off LSU, takes USC job; Venables to OU?

Rumor is there’s bad blood between Heupel and Stoops/Oklahoma. Apparently Stoops fired him in 2015, which led to Riley becoming OC. From what I’ve read, this is the fly in the ointment that will keep Heupel out of Norman.

Riley puzzed out. He’s pissed because he didn’t want Oklahoma to join the SEC, they did anyway, so he’s taking a job where the competition isn’t nearly as stiff. He’s 1-3 vs. the SEC, his lone victory coming against-you guessed it-Vacationing Dan Mullen.
He’s a good coach but he always found a way to choke off a game he shouldn’t. He’s never won a NC, for that matter he’s never won a CFB playoff game. He’ll go to SoCal and do what he always does…go 10-2 or 11-1, probably play very little defense, maybe win some PAC-12 championships and flame out in the playoffs if his team makes it in.

While I agree in most cases those back channel conversations can be a difference, when someone with two heisman trophies and multiple playoff appearances becomes available you go talk to them in person. Make them say no to your face.
