So he leaves them high and dry, takes half the staff with him, and is already targeting the recruits. This is like the coaching version of the Mayflower moving van.

USC are media darlings. All they need to do is score some flashy touchdowns and win a few games in a row and you’ll be hearing endlessly that they are back and every talking head’s playoff favorite. You’ll be hearing commentators talk about it during Gator games. You won’t be able to escape it.

There’s plenty of talent in CA and USC is a national brand, unlike LSU.

The comparison isn’t really close imo.

I disagree on the LSU talent...But at USC you don't have to leave LA County.

The Media wants USC back along with Big-10..11..13..14? Football...The glory Rose Bowl Days...They want ratings and they ain't in LSU, Boise, Ole Miss, Mizzou, OK...

After Kingsbury tells OU to take a flying leap, they’ll turn to Heupel. The meltdown will be glorious. I’ll be at VolNation with a Zima in each hand.

Regarding the speculation that Stricklin did or didn’t contact other coaches:

1. We don’t know.
2. We’ll never know.
3. Who GAF now? The hire is made.

Quit hand wringing and being “saddened” over something that we’ll never know and is now irrelevant.

If Napier bombs out we all know Stricklin won’t be given an opportunity to hire another.

People are acting like the USC job isn't a big time gig. It is. People are also acting like LSU is way bigger a place than it is. It isn't.
It's about winning. Winning magnifies a program. Was Alabama a top job when Saban arrived? No, middle of the road SEC.

It's getting mighty interesting on Rocky Not.

Vols are shytting the bed about Heupel to OU.
Here's the thing, if the coach does not want to be there it is best he move on. Heupel is replaceable. Mullen taught us that if a coach does not want to be at the school it becomes an embarrassment. Throwing a ton of money does not make a disconnected coach care about the school.

Lsu is better than usc. Usc is overrated because their talent pool is overrated. You are more likely to win a NC at LSU than at usc.
Hard to say. The new expanded SEC will be tough. We probably see an expanded play off format as well so more teams will at least make it to what will be the big dance.

If Napier bombs out we all know he’ll get a huge extension just before he’s shown the exit.

While I agree in most cases those back channel conversations can be a difference, when someone with two heisman trophies and multiple playoff appearances becomes available you go talk to them in person. Make them say no to your face.
Not always. I get the idea that Stricklin wanted Billy as the best choice.

If the rumor is true that he is the only one he interviewed. I don't get that, how can you truly know the talent pool unless you converse with them. This hire was very Foley/Butters like if the rumors are true.
