I like that he associates Gator football with Spurrier.

Our brand made its bones with that dude, and Billy knows it.

My first thought when he talked about his dad changing their team unis to resemble Spurrier-era UF was maybe we get our blue back.

Well guys I'm real sorry to be a downer and everything but considering how psyched I am about this hire I figured an explanation is owed why I guess I won't be here for the festivities today.

My Dad just called to say my Mom has passed. I have to tidy up my affairs for the week so I can go over there to Clearwater now.

Kind of in shock.

Guess I will see you fellas later. Go Gators!!

Sorry dude, you belong to a club now that no one wants to be a member of.

I’m telling you guys , I have a good feeling about him . He’s genuine as Shyte and that will resonate in recruiting. I mean I’m about to back to college just to play for this guy , we will be winning championships in 4 years. Kirby is toast

This is why I wanted Billy. He secured a 7.5 million pool for assistants and 5 million for support staff. Now we are talking! This is Alabama and Georgia level support. Billy got it done. He fumigated the stench of Foley from our program. Foleyroaches are a problem of the past. Even If billy does not work out (unlikely imo) this is the gift that will benefit the program forever.

If this guy is as attuned as it appears he will spend quality time chatting football junkie **** with the ole ballcoach
I wish someone had asked him how much affect knowing SOS has an office at the football stadium influence his decision to take the job in Florida?

I missed the podcast again. I had another orgy to attend. And by orgy I mean the wife said I needed to take the dogs for a walk and make dinner (wife is laid up waiting on surgery so Im running the show and failing miserably). How can I watch it?

Not all in on Napier, but I'm like 99% there. I hope the two OL coaches make up for him being the OC. He may need to adjust that down the road (or not), but I have the upmost faith that he'll adjust for things that don't work.

I appreciated his demeanor and comportment. Considering he was around 24 hrs removed from coaching his last game and all the congratulations and other debriefing, he was prepared and for me engendered a trust that he’s going to represent the Gators well and work to make us relevant first and then a force afterward. He’s very believable.

I also appreciated his frankness concerning recruiting and the reality of the salvage work ahead for this cycle. I feel like he’s not going to rush out and sign a bunch of bodies just to sign a bunch of bodies, which I can appreciate. Wouldn’t be surprised if he didn’t snag a few prospects despite the late start.

The only cringe-worthy thing might have been his appreciation for what he got from McElwain. Public speaking wasn’t one of those things. I have to remind myself that McElwain was at one time highly regarded by Saban, so there were some redeeming qualities to learn from. However, I don’t believe he emulates Mac’s work ethic or staff requirements, so maybe he was just positively spinning a question meant to trip him up? He may look like Karl, but there’s a lot more going on in his brain than mustard and biscuits.

No real way to know what our perception of Billy Napier will be in four years, but the initial impression is that he will have his schit together in all phases. I also can’t see him embarrassing the school, the program, or the fans (with the exception of those who’d complain if it was raining 5$ bills outside). I can’t say I’ve felt like that in quite a few years. I’m happily looking ahead.

Every word Stricklin used to describe Napier, hard working, attention to detail, organized, and so on, which is why he went after Napier. None of those attributes fit Mullen, so how the hell did we end up with that lazy sack of shyt for 4 years if that’s what Stricklin looks for in people he hires.
I don't think there's anything more telling than the simple fact that Mullen, who was Stricklin's HC at MSU, was his 3rd choice and only after getting played by Kelly and Frost. That shows how much of a chump he was that a guy he already had a previous working relationship with was bottom of barrel of choices.

Pros of the press conference:

He’s boring which is good. I’m so tired of goofballs like Sharkhumper and Dorky Dan.

He said he was going to hire an “army” of people. That doesn’t sound like a guy planning on a support staff of 20, a la Mullinz.

He didn’t seem like he planned on filling out this transition class with filler. He even warned we might have a low number of signees. I like it. He seems to understand what it takes to build a balanced roster.

Two offensive line coaches and two defensive line coaches. He said you can’t have one guy coaching 5 kids.

Cons:

He will be calling the plays. No thank you. Being a head coach is hard enough.

He said he learned a lot from a dude who banged a shark.

It seems like Napier has a green light for all the support staff he wants. Does this mean the UF administration is finally willing to get back into the "arms race"?

20?

I guess you are counting the Asst Coaches?

I think we had 4 or 5 recruiting assistants, 2 GAs, I think an offensive QA, defensive QA, and ST QA.

Bammer, Ugly, LSU, ATM, have 30-40 receuiting assistants alone.

Lafayette had 12 recruiting assistants.

Does anybody know how the new budget for assistants and support staff compares to where we were prior to CBN and how it compares to Trailerbama, Clemson, and the dwags?
